Jon Moxley Returns

AEW Collision kicked off with the returning Jon Moxley taking on Shane Taylor. Before the match, highlights of Moxley’s match against Shingo Takagi last weekend at NJPW Battle in the Valley were shown, marking the first time in recent memory that New Japan highlights were aired on AEW television. Lee Moriarty was cornering Shane Taylor and got a shot in behind the referee’s back early in the match.

Moxley won with the bulldog choke after Shane Taylor passed out and referee Stefon Smith called for the bell. After the match, Mox got on the mic and said he was “pissed off and hungry beyond belief” and any teammate or colleague of his had to “keep the hell up”.

Hook

A video recap of Hook challenging Samoa Joe for the AEW World Title this past Wednesday was shown next.

The Cope Open (Yes, They’re Really Calling It That)

Next up was “The Cope Open”, the next entry in Adam Copeland’s open challenge. This time answering the challenge was Top Flight’s Dante Martin.

Martin gave Copeland a run for his money but ultimately was vanquished by a huge spear with Martin coming off the top rope and Copeland’s new submission finisher “The Grindhouse”. After the match, Tony Schiavone interviewed Copeland and Adam gave credit to Dante Martin and said he was going to keep doing the open until he gets the TNT Championship and brings it back to TNT.

Danielson & Castagnoli

Lexi Nair interviewed Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli bringing up both of their losses to Eddie Kingston in the Continental Classic.

Top Flight & Action Andretti

Lexi Nair then was interviewing Action Andretti and Top Flight when Private Party interrupted and bragged about beating them. The faces pointed out that Marq Quen used the ropes to win and Quen said he just lost his balance. Top Flight & Andretti suggested having a rematch and Private Party agreed.

Thunder Rosa vs. Queen Aminata

Next up was Thunder Rosa in her first singles match since August 6, 2022, taking on Queen Aminata. The pair had a hard-hitting match with Thunder Rosa hitting the Tijuana Bomb for the win.

Eddie & Ortiz

Lexi Nair was back with Eddie Kingston and Ortiz and she pointed out that it had been a while since they had teamed up. Ortiz said they had a tiff but they fixed it. Kingston complained about always needing to do camera stuff right before he needed to get ready for a match and made a funny reference to his cold opens during the Continental Classic.

Bang Bang Scissor Gang

The newly crowned ROH 6-Man Tag Team Champions Jay White & The Gunns were out next and debuted “Cardboard Juice” to the live crowd. AEW Trios Champions Daddy Ass and The Acclaimed interrupted and again asked the Bang Bang Gang to become a “supergroup” as the crowd chanted “Bang Bang Scissor Gang”. After some deliberation, the scissors met the guns as the new group celebrated.

A video from last week after Dynamite was shown with Toni Storm admitting she remembers Deonna Purrazzo.

Buddy Matthews vs. Daniel Garcia

Next up was House of Black’s Buddy Matthews taking on Daniel Garcia. Malakai Black and Brody King accompanied Matthews to the ring and FTR came out to watch the back of Garcia. Daddy Magic Matt Menard, who has had multiple run-ins with Brody King lately, was also on commentary for this match.

Daniel Garcia won after reversing a powerbomb attempt into a roll-up. Immediately after the 3-count, the other members of House of Black and FTR jumped into the ring and a huge brawl ensued with referees, security, and a large portion of the locker room attempting to break it up.

After the commercial, FTR & Garcia challenged House of Black to a 6-Man Elimination-Style Cage Match next week on Collision.

Generation Next Revisited

Two former members of the old Ring of Honor stable Generation Next squared off next with hometown St. Louis hero Matt Sydal taking on Roderick Strong. Strong picked up the win with The End of Heartache.

Main Event and A Major Announcement

The main event of Collision was Eddie Kingston and Ortiz taking on Blackpool Combat Club’s Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli. In the middle of this match, Tony Schiavone announced that Tony Khan had just announced that rankings are returning in AEW.

Meanwhile, the combatants in this match hit just as hard as you might have expected.

In the end, Danielson & Castagnoli scored the victory after Danielson hit Ortiz with the Busaiku Knee. Ortiz was apologizing to Kingston for losing. Danielson got into Kingston’s face and said “You’re not going to hold them for long”, referring to Eddie’s three title belts, and spat in Eddie’s face.
