Moné opens up about the planning of AEW Big Business and her first conversation with Tony Khan.

It has been three weeks since the official AEW debut of Mercedes Moné took place. She kicked off AEW Big Business from the TD Garden in her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.

Mercedes was present on commentary for the latest installment of Dynamite and watched Willow Nightingale secure a shot at the TBS Championship.

She further spoke about her debut during her appearance on the Stick to Wrestling Podcast. She stated that herself and AEW President Tony Khan had been planning ‘Big Business’ for a while.

I knew for a while (about AEW Big Business). That’s why it’s all about big business. I am big business baby. I’m the CEO of AEW so, me and Tony (Khan) have been planning things for a while and we’re just in the works of so many more incredible things.

Later in the interview, Moné was asked about her first conversation with Khan about joining AEW. She said it was amazing and they had been in contact for quite some time.

Mercedes told him she’d think about the idea and wanted to keep an eye on the company’s women’s division.

It was amazing (first call with Tony Khan about joining AEW). We’ve been talking for quite some time now and I just think the alignment felt so right to now in 2024 and yeah, it’s just been so many beautiful things in the works. When he called me the first time, I’m like, ‘I’ll think about it TK. We gotta build this relationship. Let me keep on watching, let me keep on seeing this women’s division’ and I kept on watching the women’s division and my dreams just became so much bigger and brighter and I knew instantly, I wanted AEW to be my home.

Worcester, Massachusetts is playing host to the 4/3 Dynamite. That night will be a double taping of Dynamite and Collision.
