The Young Bucks used a little help from a “Scapegoat” to earn champ status this weekend.

Jack Perry made his return to AEW programming on Sunday night, interfering in a ladder match between The Young Bucks and FTR. His run-in during the AEW Dynasty co-main event allowed Matt and Nick Jackson to earn the world tag team titles for the third time in their careers and win the match.

Perry emerged from the crowd late in the match and pushed FTR’s Dax Harwood off a ladder. This allowed Nick to retrieve the belts, putting an end to a physical and bloody 21-minute performance.

Before the return of Perry, FTR and The Young Bucks were in a back-and-forth contest that saw both teams score highlight-reel moves. Numerous spots saw the wrestlers land full force through ladders and tables. Harwood started to bleed early in the match and would continue to gush from his head as the bout continued.

The ladder match was a culmination of AEW’s quest to find new tag champs.

AEW started a tag team championship tournament last month after Darby Allin and Sting relinquished their titles. The Young Bucks had to overcome Private Party and the Best Friends before appearing this weekend. FTR previously beat Top Flight and The Infantry.

The Young Bucks are now the first-ever three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions. They notably had a 302-day reign beginning in 2020, eventually dropping the belts to The Lucha Brothers at All Out 2021.
