Jordan is the first holder of the title.
This past April, NXT held their Stand & Deliver Premium Live Event from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As the show was ongoing, the Women’s North American Championship was formally introduced.
Fast forward to NXT Battleground in June, a Ladder match took place to crown the first champion and emerging victorious was Kelani Jordan. As Jordan was guest appearing on WWE – Die Woche, she stated that NXT’s women’s division legitimately found out about the introduction of the belt at the PLE.
Yes, absolutely that. The NXT women’s division is stacked. There are a lot of incredible, talented superstars in that women’s locker room but also, when we found out about the Women’s North American Championship being introduced, it was an awesome validation of how much the women’s division is growing. But we found out right before the six-woman tag at Stand & Deliver so when we found out, I know we were teary-eyed. We were like, ‘Oh my gosh. We have to go out but this is so awesome.’ So yeah, it speaks volumes to how great the women’s division is doing.
At the Heatwave PLE, Jordan is going to be defending her title against Sol Ruca. If she is to retain, she is eyeing Cora Jade and Lola Vice as future challengers.
So, one, because I just wanna go against her, Cora Jade. When she comes back, I wanna go against Cora Jade because you know, she likes to talk a lot, on Twitter, so I wanna go against Cora and then I also, someone else, let me think. There’s so many good people so it’s like, wow, there’s a lot. I would love to go against Lola (Vice) again because I want to redeem myself from the Breakout tournament. Yeah, probably those two for sure.
After Heatwave concludes, the Poisonrana Podcast is going to be recording their review show and to keep an eye out for that audio/video, head over to this link.
