It was two weeks that Wentz was in possession of the title.

In one weekend, Zachary Wentz won Ultimate X to become TNA X Division Champion. He then took the title over to NXT No Mercy where he scored a victory over Wes Lee.

Wentz’s reign as champion spanned 14 days as he would drop the championship back to ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey at TNA Victory Road. While speaking with 3W-Wrestling, he opened up about the brief title run and explained how much the title means to him.

I mean, it (TNA X Division Title) means a lot because if you look at my style of wrestling, it is very much X Division Championship-style wrestling. I feel like the X Division is the division in professional wrestling and I feel like the X Division style has completely influenced professional wrestling (as) a whole. If you look at the styles on other matches now, they’re very much X Division-type matches so, it definitely meant a lot to me. Especially, like, I said it before, look at all the legends that have held the title but not even just that, my brother Trey (Miguel), he’s held that title. Yeah, and he was a great champion so it just meant a lot to me and yeah, it may have been a short reign. But that’s okay because I made history. At the end of the day, people aren’t going to look at the reign and go, oh, that was short. They’re gonna look at that reign and say, oh, he made history by being the first X Division Champion to be featured on WWE television. So, means a lot to me.

Wentz has been working dates for TNA and NXT as he’s in the midst of a program with Wes Lee. He was asked if he’s enjoyed being Zachary Wentz on NXT programming as opposed to being his former name, Nash Carter.

So, I mean there’s pros and cons of both. I do absolutely like being Zachary Wentz in NXT right now because Zachary Wentz is the name that I built. It wasn’t a new name. Yes, I did pick the other name (Nash Carter). But, my whole legacy in professional wrestling has been under Zachary Wentz so now it’s cool to be able to showcase something that I built.

Wentz and Lee are set to collide at the NXT on CW premiere on October 1st. They’ll meet in a Street Fight
