Hulk Hogan was not surprised he was booed at the premiere of WWE Raw on Netflix.
During an in-studio chat on The Pat McAfee Show to promote Real American Beer, Hogan shared his feelings on the viral clips of the Intuit Done audience vociferously booing Hogan during his segment on January 6.
McAfee noted the political endorsement he provided for Donald Trump and pissing off half of the country. McAfee said “no one was expecting” that reaction, but Hogan said he did expect it.
However, Hogan believed that it was due to his affiliation with the New World Order when he last “ran hard” in Los Angeles and the heel actions of the group in the late ‘90s.
Hogan added, “I think the politics had a whole lot to do with it”, with McAfee following up, “and also some other stuff.”
Hogan replied, “Yeah, of course” and chuckled.
The 71-year-old Terry Bollea last worked as a heel in the WCW iteration of the N.W.O. in 1999 and for a month in WWE in early 2002 after being turned at that year’s WrestleMania in Toronto.
Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in Los Angeles in 2005 and appeared for a segment in front of the audience at the Staples Center the next night at WrestleMania 21.
Other stories from the interview included Hogan wrestling 420 times per year at his peak, and 10-11 times at TV tapings in Allentown, Pennsylvania in the ‘80s.
