Noche UFC moves locations from Mexico to San Antonio

Noche UFC – one of the major events on the promotion’s schedule – is shifting locations.

Due to ongoing construction on Arena Guadalajara in Mexico, the UFC is among several events affected by the delays and forced to find a new home for the September 13 show.

The UFC has shifted the event to the U.S. and will now take place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, over Mexican Independence Day weekend.

Additionally, the card was marketed as the UFC 320 pay-per-view and is now being categorized as a Fight Night event. This is noteworthy given that the new date listed for the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight was set to run head-to-head with the UFC that night.

It remains an open question what the status of TKO Boxing’s affiliation with Turki Al-Sheikh is, given that Al-Sheikh moved the boxing fight to air head-to-head with a UFC pay-per-view and stated that Sela would be the event promoter. As recently as May 8, TKO executive Mark Shapiro had stated they would be working with Al-Sheikh and Saudi Arabia on the Canelo vs. Crawford fight.

Last year’s Noche UFC event aired from the Sphere in Las Vegas with Riyadh Season serving as its title sponsor. The production of the event earned the UFC a pair of Sports Emmys last month.

The UFC has yet to announce any fights for the September 13 card in Texas.
