Former WWE writer Michael Notarile and Wicked (2024) director Jon M. Chu are teaming up to develop a new professional wrestling-focused drama series for Netflix, Deadline reported on Thursday.
A new project named “Tuesday Night Titans” is reportedly in “early development stages.”
Deadline wrote that the series follows a writer who reunites with a childhood friend, who works as a jobber in the wrestling industry. They come together to both pursue careers in a wrestling company they both once dreamed of joining, however, “personal demons, ruthless colleagues,” and their battles with “kayfabe” crossing into reality make things more complicated.
Many might realize that the show’s title is the same as a mid-80s WWF talk show, which saw Vince McMahon (and later “Mean” Gene Okerlund) alongside Lord Alfred Hayes hosting a late-night style program.
Notarile has a deep amount of experience as a writer, but notably has spent some time in the wrestling business. He worked as a writer for WWE from 2013 to 2015, being a part of the promotion’s creative team for the main roster.
With initial details regarding the show just coming out, it’s seemingly still a long way out before this project becomes a reality.
But, if it can be finished, “Tuesday Night Titans” will be part of the same catalog that carries Monday Night Raw in the U.S. as well as most of WWE’s live programming catalogue in many other international markets, as part of a deal that kicked off early this year.
