The Twenty-Five Year Plan
SmackDown from Lexington, Kentucky, kicked off with John Cena, fresh off his announced title match on June 28th against CM Punk from Saudi Arabia. Cena said that he is all four faces on wrestling’s Mount Rushmore and then explained all of his actions over the last year, much like a B-movie supervillain would, including “putting” R-Truth in the main event so the fans would care. Cena continued that if CM Punk wanted his title, he would have to admit he’s a hypocrite, and Seth Rollins would never cash in on him. He concluded with “No one is worthy to hold (the title) again,” which brought out Cody Rhodes.

Cody brought up Cena’s “twenty-five-year plan,” but countered by saying he pinned him at Money in the Bank this past Saturday in Los Angeles. This brought out Randy Orton, who hadn’t been seen since Backlash from St. Louis. Orton said that he had Cena beaten at Backlash, and he was going to put Cody down to get back to Cena. This brought out LA Knight, who called the three in the ring “The WWE Establishment” and that he would “drop” all of them, but Cena took a powder. Ron Killings then attacked Cena from behind and left him lying in the entranceway. After the commercial, Cena was seen screaming in the face of Nick Aldis, but no audio was broadcast.

King of the Ring Fatal 4-Way First Round Match #1
The first match of the evening was the first of four King & Queen of the Ring Fatal 4-Way First Round matches. This one saw the aforementioned LA Knight, Randy Orton, Aleister Black, and Carmelo Hayes (who was sadly without the Andre necklace), who dominated the early portion of the match.

The match continued with all four men exchanging control until Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed appeared, taking out LA Knight. Hayes went to take advantage and hit a First 48 on Knight, but Orton caught Hayes with an RKO on his way onto Knight. Randy Orton picked up the win and advances in the King of the Ring tournament to face Sami Zayn in the Semi-Finals next Friday.

Money in Your Pocket
Next up was Jacob Fatu, fresh off of turning on his former stablemate Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank. Fatu said that it’s now just him against the world. Solo Sikoa interrupted via TitanTron, who said he can forgive him for what happened, and he made Fatu into a Superstar and put money in his pocket. Sikoa said that he’ll be in the ring next week with open arms and needs to hear, “I love you, Solo.” Sikoa concluded, saying that he brought him into this world, and he will take him out.
Come on, Jacob Fatu!

Backstage, Secret Hervice forced Nick Aldis to FaceTime with Chelsea Green, who was drinking in a pool somewhere, complaining about not being able to get to Lexington, and demanding to postpone her Queen of the Ring match. Aldis scoffed and replaced her with Alba Fyre. Zelina Vega appeared, muted Chelsea, and demanded a match with Giulia. Aldis declined, but Vega said she would confront her next week.
Queen of the Ring Fatal 4-Way First Round Match #1
The next match was the first Queen of the Ring Fatal 4-Way with Jade Cargill taking on Nia Jax, Michin, and Piper Niven, who was replacing Chelsea Green. Going into the first commercial break, Michin executed a moonsault from the second rope to the outside onto all three of her opponents and immediately checked on Piper Niven as she had seemed to nail her on the way down. After the break, Niven and Jax established a coalition, teaming up to throw Jade Cargill into the announce desk, taking out Wade Barrett in the process.

The Niven and Jax team then fell apart, with Niven spearing Jax through the barricade. Niven then hit the Piper Bomb on Michin, but Cargill recovered just in time and hit Niven with Jaded for the win. Cargill goes on to the Semi-Finals to face Roxanne Perez.

Naomi in the Bank
Ms. Money in the Bank Naomi was out next, now donned in a purple razor blade jumpsuit instead of caution tape. Naomi brought up how Tiffany Stratton stopped her from winning the WWE Women’s Championship from Nia Jax. Naomi said she was going to hit Stratton in the head with her briefcase and cash in, which prompted Stratton to appear, who goaded her to challenge her to do it now. Naomi declined, saying that she would do it when she least expected it, and from now until then, she would make her life a living hell. Naomi left, and Nia Jax appeared, jumping Stratton from behind and hitting her with the Annihilator. Naomi then went to cash in, but Jax backed her down.
DOWN GOES TIFFANY!

Raise Your Sicks
A video from earlier in the day was shown, with Nick Aldis gathering all the tag teams in the back to “address the Wyatt Sicks situation”. Aldis determined that Motor City Machine Guns would face the Wyatts to “set the tone”. This led directly into MCMG taking on Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis. The crowd did not know what to make of this match and largely sat on their hands for it, especially with a few weird and sloppy spots. Lumis hit a top rope leg drop for the win.
Backstage, John Cena approached Jimmy Uso and asked him if he had seen R-Truth or Ron Killings. Cena said he knew Jimmy was close to Killings, so he should let him know he’s on his way to the ring right now, and Killings should meet him there.

Cena returned to the ring and called out “R-Truth” for a fight, but instead, CM Punk appeared and compared himself to Obi-Wan Kenobi, talking to Darth Vader and trying to see Anakin Skywalker somewhere inside. Punk asked Cena to give the fans a happy ending instead of continuing on his current path, and he said no.
.@johncena wanted the truth and he got it 🤷@CMPunk #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/6iXlR2Jb2P

Punk said that John Cena was trying to follow in his footsteps by leaving with the WWE Championship and that he would follow Cena to Mars or Hell to prove he is better than Cena. Punk concluded by saying that he sees through Cena and has always, and “that’s the truth.” Killings then showed up again, attacking Cena from behind and putting him in the STFU before officials broke it up.

A little later backstage, Killings asked for and received a match against John Cena next week from Nick Aldis. Killings exclaimed, “I’m driving now!”

Queen of the Ring Fatal 4-Way First Round Match #2
Alexa Bliss was interviewed backstage and asked if she was rattled after losing Money in the Bank. She said no, but was interrupted by Charlotte Flair, who said there was only room for one “Queen” in the division. Flair made her way to the ring, but Alexa interrupted before Charlotte was halfway down the aisle. This match saw the two aforementioned competitors involved, as well as Alba Fyre (subbing in for Chelsea Green) and Candice LeRae. The story here was primarily about Bliss and Flair, with Fyre and LeRae sprinkled in. Charlotte got Alba Fyre in the Figure Eight, but Bliss hit the Sister Abigail DDT on LeRae and scored the pinfall just before Fyre tapped out. Bliss goes on next week to face the winner of the next Fatal 4-Way, taking place this Monday on Raw.

Backstage, Cody Rhodes ran into CM Punk and said, “You know we can’t run away from each other forever,” and Punk wished him luck, saying that they’ll see who’s chasing who after Night of Champions.
King of the Ring Fatal 4-Way First Round Match #2
The main event was the final (of four total) first-round tournament Fatal 4-Way matches with Cody Rhodes taking on Andrade, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Damian Priest. Control of the match was ping-ponging back and forth between all four men when Rhodes pulled out a corporate-branded table, only to be knocked through it himself thanks to Nakamura. After the final commercial break, Andrade hit The Message on Damian Priest, but Nakamura broke up the pin. Rhodes then countered out of the Razor’s Edge and hit the Cody Cutter on Priest. He followed that up with a Cross Rhodes first on Andrade and then Nakamura as well. Cody Rhodes goes on to the Semi-finals against the winner of the last Fatal 4-Way on Raw on Monday.
