Miyu Yamashita was unable to receive a license to wrestle at Sunday’s Game Changer Wrestling show in Missouri.

The performer was scheduled to wrestle at GCW’s Take a Picture event at The Truman in Kansas City, but the promotion issued the following statement:

Despite the fact that she has wrestled in Missouri multiple times, has all relevant & required documents and has a valid work visa, the Missouri Athletic Commision will not license Miyu Yamashita to wrestle today because she does not have a social security number.

Yamashita’s Cagematch record states she has wrestled twice in the state. Yamashita wrestled on a Ring of Honor taping in St. Louis on March 29, 2023, and for Glory Pro in the city on May 21, 2023.

Missouri is one of the few states to regulate professional wrestling. On its licensing form, there is a cost of $40.00 for a contestant, and the form does require a Social Security number.

POST Wrestling has reached out to the Missouri Office of Athletics for comment on the matter and will update the story if a response is issued.
