Days before AEW holds its largest event in North America, company head Tony Khan fielded questions from the media concerning the state of the company.
All In Texas is scheduled for Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, this Saturday on a day that WWE has opted to counter with back-to-back shows in Atlanta.
Khan took questions for over an hour, dealing with All In Texas and Supercard of Honor, with the following noteworthy items.
Mercedes Moné doesn’t have creative control
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful pressed Khan on the speculation that Moné’s booking is a result of her having that level of control.
Khan called the notion “ridiculous” and said that he is the only one who holds creative control over the final product presented weekly.
He cited Jen Pepperman as someone who works closely with the TBS champion and RJ City, working alongside her All In opponent, Timeless Toni Storm.
Khan called this year “the best run of television they’ve ever had” and said that he’s held the creative reins since the promotion’s launch. He acknowledged that he has limited the volume of input from various voices in 2025 and believes it’s a more focused show.
All In Texas nearing a $3 million gate
Mike Johnson of PWinsider.com sought the latest gate figure for the show, with Khan stating it is “close” to the $3 million threshold.
It will be AEW’s largest North American gate in history and the third highest behind the two shows at Wembley Stadium.
WrestleTix reports that the show has surpassed 20,000 tickets distributed, with Khan confident they will benefit from a strong walk-up.
While Saturday’s show will be the biggest of the year for the company, AEW has not seen a trickle-down effect for the week’s television shows in nearby Garland, Texas. WrestleTix currently lists Wednesday’s Dynamite at approximately 2,300 tickets out and 2,000 for Collision the next night at the Curtis Culwell Center.
Paging Dr. Baker
Rick Ucchino of SI.com asked about the status of Dr. Britt Baker and whether it was accurate that the former women’s champion was seeking an exit from the promotion.
Khan said he has never had a conversation about Baker leaving AEW and leaned on the performer’s absence being a numbers game.
He compared his talent situation with a sports team and that there are only so many spots and acknowledged having a deep bench. His defense was not attempting to force everyone onto the show’s weekly schedule, and he is hopeful of working certain talents back when the timing is right.
Last week, Scorpio Sky made his return to AEW television for the first time since September 2023. Many performers have an unknown status, some of whom could be injured or are just not figured into the plans.
Injuries affecting AEW & ROH
Khan volunteered an update on his stalled booking of several matches for Supercard of Honor on Friday and the women’s ROH Pure tournament.
He said that several injuries have affected plans, noting that Jamie Hayter has been gone longer than expected and required shuffling, including utilizing Queen Aminata on AEW programming.
This was when he revealed Red Velvet was injured in Mexico last month, and an interim ROH Women’s Television champion will be crowned on Friday’s show in Arlington. Khan indicated Velvet won’t be missing too much time.
Christopher Dispensa’s lawsuit against AEW & Jon Moxley
It was the first topic brought up by reporter Jon Alba and asking a general question about safety protocols among production workers.
Khan wouldn’t comment on the pending litigation but stated they cared about the safety of everyone involved at their shows.
Dispensa is suing over a 2023 incident where Moxley removed a screwdriver from his pocket and shoved Dispensa on camera during a steel cage match with Kenny Omega in Detroit.
Brandon Thurston has posted multiple updates on the suit over the past week.
AEW filed today to move the Michigan state lawsuit from crew member Christopher Dispensa to federal court, citing diversity of citizenship and a claimed lien over $215k.
