TNA Impact Results: Konnan’s message to Santana, Knockouts tag title rematch at BFG

The final episode of Impact Wrestling before Bound for Glory saw the show wrap its tapings in Edmonton, Alberta, highlighted by some tremendous videos leading into the pay-per-view.

The show combined matches taped at the Edmonton Expo Centre along with several “Road to Glory” packages, which were excellent in hyping up The Hardys vs. Team 3-D and Trick Williams vs. Mike Santana.

RESULTS

*Matt Cardona over Ryan Nemeth
*Mustafa Ali over JDC (Recommended)
*No Disqualification Match:
Eric Young over Joe Hendry

The show opened with Trick Williams entering the ring and comparing himself to Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan, and Michael Jackson. He also took credit for putting “butts in seats” in TNA, prompting Mike Santana to enter the arena.

Santana dismissed Williams, who has not fought the same battles. He mentioned identifying his father’s body in the morgue, telling his daughter he was an addict and needed to enter rehab, but crawled out of rock bottom and has nothing to lose on Sunday. Williams replied that after he wins, Santana will be “bound for rehab”, which sounds like a pay-per-view TNA would have promoted in their Spike days. Santana no-sold the comment and called Williams a “pretender” and a “one trick pony” and that he would lose the title and be “bound for developmental”.

The two had some great lines in the segment, and after many weeks, they have done a pretty effective job leading the audience to believe in Santana and that Bound for Glory will be his crowning. Santana is unequivocally “the guy” in TNA, and they’d be insane not to pull the trigger in Lowell.

Ryan Nemeth vs. Matt Cardona

Cardona was the babyface, but didn’t deter the crowd from chanting, “Chelsea’s husband” loudly. Nic Nemeth got involved multiple times by attacking Cardon, and on the second one, he was ejected, and it was comical how much Nic oversold this ruling.

Ryan turned around and was hit by Radio Silence, and Cardona won.

The audience had fun, but the match was nothing more than Nic’s interference backfiring and an easy win by Cardona.

The Rascalz met in their room, but before smoking up, Trey Miguel apologized for superkicking Zachary Wentz in the three-way with Cedric Alexander. They got high and realized they aren’t booked on the pay-per-view and that their contracts are up at the end of the year. So, they are going to ask Santino Marella for a match at BFG, and hopefully, they aren’t asked for a drug sample.

They never found Santino Marella.

The next video profiling Mara Sade spoke about seeing legends backstage at TNA and mentioning Lance Storm (who probably would hate that term), Tommy Dreamer, and Jazz, with the latter being one who inspired her. She didn’t confirm or deny whether Dreamer influenced her character building. Sade said she was in dark places as a child and “looked death in the face,” but it led her, and she wants to inspire little girls.

Mustafa Ali vs. JDC

Okay, this wasn’t anything close to the Ali match with Ethan Page at Showdown, but it was just about the best match you’ll see JDC have.

Ali was a ping pong ball flying around for JDC, from sliding and crotching himself on the post, missing a 450 splash, and flying into the corner buckle after JDC side-stepped. JDC attempted Down & Dirty, Ali slid to the floor, so JDC hit a somersault dive onto the Secret Service (not Hervice) members. A brawl with both groups ensued, and Agent Zero murdered all, ending with a choke bomb to JDC on the apron. Ali won after the 450 splash.

A very enjoyable television match and a great week for Ali, who was the performer of the show on Tuesday’s NXT.

Santino Marella hosted the contract signing between Kelani Jordan and Indi Hartwell.

Before it began, The Personal Concierge interrupted and was OUTRAGED over “what happened” to The Elegance Brand last week and is invoking their rematch clause, which Marella signed without any protest.

They didn’t state who, what, where, or when, only that a rematch to avenge “WHAT HAPPENED”. So, The IInspiration will face The Elegance Brand on Sunday’s pre-show, but I hope you’re keeping notes.

A Tear in Your Eye

Then, this show hit another level with this “Road to Glory” special on The Hardys and Team 3-D. It was TNA’s ode to 24/7, complete with dramatic narration. Jeff Hardy’s two daughters were interviewed, D-Von spoke about having four kids, with two being old enough to understand and two being young and don’t quite understand all the stuff he did, and Bubba was in full “Bubba Mode”.

We saw Bubba down a shot of bourbon and did the great last-minute sales job you’ll ever here. He pointed to the camera operator, the production assistant off camera, and you, the viewer at home. He promised that the emotion they evoke on Sunday will FORM A TEAR IN YOUR EYE. He is literally promising to make you cry in “One Final Table”. God bless.

Leon Slater entered the arena for his final promo before Bound for Glory and spoke of growing up without a father and never feeling he fit in until finding pro wrestling and TNA. He wants to build on the legacies of Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, and AJ Styles against “the outsider” Je’Von Evans and won’t allow him to take his X Division title because it’s proof that Slater is “good enough”.

No Disqualification Match: Joe Hendry vs. Eric Young

It was the final match of the night and incorporated trash cans, steel chains, chairs, and cookie sheets.

They fought onto the stage, where Young took a back body drop and was later sent off the stage, and they went into the stands. The audience was into the hardcore aspects.

The disguised figure was in the crowd with “The Cleanse is Coming” sign, but didn’t get involved.

Hendry attempted the Standing Ovation, but Young raked his eyes. Young survived an Olympic Slam onto the chair and proceeded to kick Hendry in the balls and use a piledriver on top of the chair for the victory.

Fine match and the audience responded to the weapons, the bigger note was this feeling like the slow farewell to Joe Hendry, who isn’t listed for BFG but could easily be part of the Call Your Shot Gauntlet.

Konnan’s Essay for Mike Santana

The show ended with a FANTASTIC video where Mike Santana ventured into the old LAX clubhouse with photos of all the former members and a handwritten note voiced by Konnan. Holy Christ, this was great.

We literally ended Impact with an audio essay from Konnan with last-minute words of advice about how this is Santana’s time, especially now for Puerto Ricans, and mentioning the right-wing backlash against Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl (I swear, this was part of the message). He said Santana is fighting for other Puerto Ricans like Pedro Morales and Savio Vega, and Latino stars like Eddy Guerrero and Rey Mysterio.

Konnan said that Trick is “all about partying” and Santana is about “business” and that the only way to stand out in the crowd is “to stand for something special” while quoting Victor Hugo, “There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come”.

The best TNA segment of 2025 closed the show, and Konnan gets a nomination for best promo of the year.
