AEW president Tony Khan continues to state that Chris Jericho is welcome in the company as the former champion’s contract enters its final months.

Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio on Monday and was asked about Jericho and whether there was any update after Jericho had been away from AEW since April.

I love Chris Jericho. He’s a huge part of AEW. He’s been here since the beginning. We’ll see what happens in the coming months, but Chris is always welcome (and) a big part of AEW, we’d always want to have here. I absolutely am so grateful to Chris Jericho for all he’s done.

Jericho signed with AEW in January 2019 when the promotion launched and was the inaugural AEW champion after defeating Hangman Page at All Out in August 2019.

Jericho spoke with The Daily Mail about the option of returning to WWE and stated, he “wasn’t opposed to it”.

I’m still with AEW for right now. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it; we’ll just have to see what happens. But the best thing that could happen is to have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting.” (Transcription: WrestleZone)

The performer signed an extension with AEW three years ago, which runs through December 2025.
