The 2025 NJPW Super Junior Tag League got started on Thursday night, featuring six block matchups from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

TMDK’s Ichiban Sweet Boys earned their first two points in the main event spot of the night, going a lengthy near 20 minutes to defeat El Desperado and his newfound tag partner, Kuukai.

Looking to go back-to-back after winning last year’s tournament, Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita had a great start to their 2025 run, debuting a new double-team driver finisher to earn the pinfall win on Kuukai.

Dragon Gate talent was on display in earlier B Block action when KUSHIDA and Yuki Yoshioka overcame Tiger Mask and YAMATO. After Yushioka took out YAMATO at ringside with a Tope con Hilo, KUSHIDA reversed a kimura from Tiger Mask into a Hoverboard Lock for the submission victory.

Also in the B Block, Robbie X picked up a tag win alongside fellow Bullet Club member Taiji Ishimori against Dick Togo and Yoshinobu Kanemaru of House of Torture. This match was a true showcase of Robbie’s athleticism, closing out the 10-minute performance with a Magic Killer double-team into an X-Express dive off the top rope. Worth noting, this was Robbie’s first NJPW date in Japan since June.

YOH, a four-time Super Junior Tag League winner, started his quest toward a fifth trophy in the co-main event, teaming with Master Wato to take down the Skateboard Bros. duo of Dragon Dia and Ryusuke Taguchi in A Block action. YOH and Wato, two-thirds of the NEVER Six-Man Tag Team Champions, connected with a Falcon Blow to put away Dia at 17 minutes. Unable to help in the finishing sequence was Taguchi, who got taken out by a rough groin-first landing on the turnbuckles.

In a match which included one of the more odd dynamics of the night, War Dogs members Gedo and Clark Connors stood across from eachother. A distraction by Gedo to Connors allowed teammate Hiromu Takahashi to pin Young Lion Daiki Nagai, an outcome which caused great frustration for Connors.

Cheap tactics proved yet again useful for House of Torture’s DOUKI and SHO, who cheated their way to their first two points in the A Block against Jakob Austin Young and Templario on Thursday night. After many illegal moves didn’t work, DOUKI leveraged the ropes during a backslide pin attempt, earning his team the victory at 11 minutes.

The Junior Tag League will return to Korakuen Hall for a second night on Friday, with all 12 teams in action once again. Here’s a look at the results & standings thus far:
