Everyone’s a Suspect

SmackDown from Tempe kicked off with Cody Rhodes being welcomed by Jimmy Uso, who thanked Rhodes for what he did for Jacob Fatu last week. Cody asked Jimmy if everything was okay with Jey and told him he had to do what’s right for him. Jimmy said he was going to talk to Nick Aldis, and Cody headed to the ring. Meanwhile, in the background, Drew McIntyre was seen stalking again.

Once in the ring, Rhodes admitted that he did something uncharacteristic when he hit Drew McIntyre with his title last week. McInrtyre appeared in the crowd and said he didn’t want to hear Cody’s excuses. Drew reiterated that he wasn’t the one who attacked Jacob Fatu and pointed toward Jimmy Uso as a potential suspect. Cody cut Drew off and challenged him to a fight. Jimmy Uso then appeared, attacking McIntyre from behind. Officials separated them, and McIntyre escaped as “MFT” made their way to the ring, eyeing Rhodes and Uso. Afterwards, backstage, McIntyre was screaming at Nick Aldis as Jimmy jumped him again, and they were separated by officials once more.

MFT vs. Fenix & Shinsuke Nakamura

Before this match began, Michael Cole called JC Mateo and Tama Tonga a “United Empire”. Meanwhile, Cole and Graves were using both “MFT” and “MFTs” interchangeably. It was also noted that Sami Zayn was not medically cleared to compete tonight after the MFT attack last week. Mateo and Tonga dominated the early portion of the match, with Rey Fenix fighting from underneath until he finally made the tag to Nakamura. The crowd was squarely behind Fenix, but didn’t react much to Nakamura. Fenix had the match all but won when Solo Sikoa distracted the referee, allowing Talla Tonga to chokeslam on the ring apron. Tama Tonga then hit the “Cut Throat” running elbow for the win.

Backstage, Jimmy Uso asked for and received a No Disqualification match against Drew McIntyre later in the main event (Nick Aldis once again had no main event booked). Elsewhere backstage, Chelsea Green approached Giulia and asked to merge their brands. Kiana James interrupted, turning them down, and noted that she had a match against Tiffany Stratton up next.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Kiana James

Tiffany Stratton had control of Kiana James at the start of this match, but all that went to hell when Giulia distracted her, allowing James to take over. After a commercial break, Stratton missed the PME, and James hit a Falcon Arrow for a near fall. Stratton recovered, hitting a Swanton and then successfully hitting the Pretty Moonsault Ever for the win. Giulia then jumped Stratton after the bell, and Jade Cargill made the save. Cargill then attacked Stratton, turning heel and decimating her.

Backstage, Sami Zayn congratulated Ilja Dragunov on his US title win over him last week, and Ilja responded by saying he respected Zayn and would continue the US Championship Open Challenge.

After a commercial break, Jade was interviewed backstage and said that she’s taking the WWE Women’s Championship.

United States Championship Open Challenge

Next was Ilja Dragunov defending his US title in an open challenge. Before his opponent was revealed, Dragunov cut a promo, saying his year of recovery had its share of highs and lows, but he never gave up. It was then revealed that his opponent would be Aleister Black, now accompanied by Zelina Vega. Early on, Zelina got involved, hitting Dragunov with a Huricanrana, sending him into the ringside barricade.

After an ad break, Dragunov was back in control until Vega got involved again, giving Black the advantage again. Dragunov then hit the Constantine Special as the show went back to commercial. Upon return, Dragunov went for a Torpedo Moscow but got caught with a flying knee and a Brainbuster for a near fall. Dragunov then hit Torpedo Moscow but couldn’t capitalize. Vega then tripped Dragunov when he was setting up for the H-Bomb, and Vega was ejected.

Damian Priest then appeared and slowly marched down to the ring and revealed what looked more like a cut around his eye than a burn. Dragunov then hit the Torpedo Mascow on the distracted Black for the win. Priest then beat down Black and set him up for a Conchairto when Vega returned, attacking Priest’s bad eye and allowing the heels to escape through the crowd.

You Will Not Be Mizzed

Carmelo Hayes was interviewed backstage and said that Miz has taught him a lot, but when he put his hands on him, he crossed the line. He said that now he was even with The Miz, and that was behind him. Kit Wilson interrupted and accused him of poisoning young people’s minds. Hayes said he would punish him next week.

At this point in the night, the official WWE Twitter account retweeted a post about the new USA show featuring recently-released talent, Braun Strowman. Bizzare.

Backstage, Ilja Dragunov ran into Fraxiom, and they both asked for a title shot. DIY interrupted and made fun of Axiom’s mask. Tama Tonga then appeared, gesturing at Fraxiom before walking away.

Cathy Kelley asked Charlotte and Alexa about Bayley’s challenge for Monday Night Raw. Nia Jax interrupted and said she was waiting for one of them to stab the other in the back. Alexa said that people change, but the old her wouldn’t be hard to find. Jax challenged Bliss to a match next week.

No Disqualification Match

The main event of the show was the No DQ match between Jimmy Uso and Drew McIntyre. The match began with the two brawling around the ringside area as the crowd chanted for tables. After a commercial break, McIntyre grabbed a chair and pummeled Uso with it.

Drew set up for the Claymore with Jimmy sat prone in a chair, but Jimmy was able to get up and hit a drop toe hold with Drew’s head smashing into the chair. Jimmy then attacked Drew with the chair and set up the ridiculous corporate meatstick-branded table. Uso then reversed another Claymore attempt with a Samoan Drop through said table. Jimmy then attempted the Uso Splash, but McIntyre nailed him right in the face with the chair. Drew then finally hit the Claymore for the win.

After the match, Drew started choking Jimmy with the chair when Cody Rhodes made the save. Rhodes turned his attention to the fallen Jimmy Uso, and he was nailed with the Claymore as the show went off the air.
