TNA’s first special event of 2026 gained two matches and, surprisingly, lost one following Thursday night’s episode of Impact.
The promotion’s Genesis event on January 17 at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, was originally scheduled to feature a TNA World Championship match between Frankie Kazarian and Mike Santana, a rematch from late 2025.
However, it was announced on this week’s episode of Impact that the high-profile bout has been moved to TNA’s debut episode of Impact on AMC, which will take place two days prior.
Along with that update, it was revealed this week that an X-Division title bout will take place at Genesis, with Leon Slater attempting to defend against former champ Moose and returning title challenger Cedric Alexander. Slater previously overcame Moose back in July to start his title reign and got past Alexander at Emergence back in August.
Genesis will serve as the venue for Elijah’s long-awaited return match, going one-on-one with Mustafa Ali.
Elijah has been out of the ring since June, when a triceps tear put him on the sidelines. He returned at Bound for Glory last year and has been feuding with Ali’s Order Four on TV in recent weeks, but hasn’t stepped into the ring for a match just yet.
Three matches are known for Genesis now, with the third bout being JDC’s retirement match against The System teammate Eddie Edwards.
- JDC vs. Eddie Edwards
- Elijah vs. Mustafa Ali
- Leon Slater vs. Moose vs. Cedric Alexander (TNA X-Division Championship)
