The #1 contender for CMLL World Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné will be determined next week in Mexico.

A four-woman tournament will go down next week, with the winner challenging Moné as part of CMLL’s International Women’s Day card on March 6.

The promotion’s search for a #1 contender won’t come via a typical single-elimination bracket, as it was revealed on Wednesday evening. Instead, a more creative path will be used to find Moné’s opponent.

As part of the upcoming Monday evening Arena Mexico card, Olympia and Persephone will team up to face TNA’s Tessa Blanchard and Zeuxis. The winning duo will go on to face eachother as part of the February 27 card in a #1 contenders bout.

For three of the women, the upcoming bookings are a road toward a rematch with Moné. Olympia, Zeuxis and Persephone each fell to Moné last year in one-on-one title matchups, extending a CMLL reign which is approaching 250 days.

However, a win in the two-match tournament would give Blanchard her first-ever pairing against Moné. The two have never crossed paths in the ring before, but Blanchard is just two wins away from changing that.
