The unnamed fan whose phone was struck by CM Punk at a hotel in Las Vegas is seeking an apology.
TMZ had a follow-up report after Sunday night’s incident, where Punk is seen on video swatting the phone of a fan filming a hug between Bayley and AJ Lee at the MGM Grand Hotel.
The fan, who TMZ is not identifying by name, tells the outlet he is not seeking to press charges or looking for money but wants an acknowledgement from Punk.
I want an apology — shake my hand — I’m not gonna sue him or put him in jail, I just want an apology.
The incident occurred late Sunday after WrestleMania 42, where Punk wrestled in the main event against Roman Reigns.
Comparisons have been made to a 2019 incident where UFC fighter Conor McGregor slapped the phone out of a fan’s hands when they were taking a photo. McGregor’s issue was compounded by stomping on the phone and taking the phone. He faced a felony charge of robbery and a misdemeanor for criminal mischief, but the charges were dropped, with the fan also dropping a civil suit.
