El Hijo del Vikingo is reportedly set for a long recovery.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Vikingo underwent ACL surgery on July 7 and will be out of action for nine months. That would put an estimated return around April.

Vikingo was scheduled for a match against EK Prosper last Tuesday on NXT, and it was reported by Cory Hays at False Finish that Vikingo suffered the injury earlier in the day, while preparing. Hays stated it was a left ACL injury.

Vikingo rose to stardom because of his explosive and high-flying style, but he’s dealt with multiple injuries, including knee issues, recently. That’s resulted in him adapting his style.

The 29-year-old was the AAA Latin American Champion at the time of his injury. The title was vacated during last weekend’s AAA TV episode, and Dorian Roldan was going to make Omos the new champion until general manager Rey Mysterio prevented that from happening.
