Dragon Lee says a torn ligament in his thumb has forced him to withdraw from Saturday’s AAA Verano de Escándalo taping.
Lee revealed the injury through an Instagram Story after boarding a flight to Aguascalientes, Mexico. He said WWE medical staff instructed him to return home rather than travel to the event.
I was already on the plane, getting ready to take off for Aguascalientes, but I want to apologize to everyone because I won’t be able to appear there.
This past Monday on Raw, I injured my finger. I posted a photo of it. After the match, I realized that, at some point, although I don’t know exactly when or how it happened, I had bent my finger badly.
I had some X-rays taken and then an MRI, and it turns out that I have a torn ligament.
Lee apologized to those expecting to see him in Aguascalientes and said he was not cleared to wrestle. He did not provide a recovery timetable.

On the July 20 edition of Raw, Lee teamed with Je’Von Evans in a non-title loss to World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker and Austin Theory. Breakker pinned Lee after a spear, although Lee said he did not know when the injury occurred during the match.
Lee had been advertised to face La Parka and Mecha Wolf in a three-way qualifier for the vacant AAA Latin American Championship. The winner was due to advance to a championship match at TripleMania.
Verano de Escándalo is being taped on Saturday at Arena San Marcos in Aguascalientes. The first installment will air live, with further episodes scheduled for August 1 and 8.
