Dominik Mysterio will once again face El Grande Americano for the AAA Mega Championship at Héroes Inmortales on October 24 in Mexico City.
Mysterio earned the title rematch during Saturday’s edition of AAA from León, Mexico, pinning Americano in a tag team main event after unmasking his father Rey Mysterio and using the Mega Championship as a weapon.
The show opened with Americano being interrupted by Dominik, Omos and Dorian Roldán. Roldán disputed the circumstances surrounding last month’s title change at TripleMania 34, questioning whether Rey was properly licensed to make the deciding count.
Americano defeated Mysterio for the championship at TripleMania after the assigned referee was knocked down. Rey, AAA’s General Manager, emerged wearing a referee shirt and counted the winning pin.
On Saturday, Americano proposed settling the issue with a tag match pitting himself & Rey against Dominik & Omos. If Dominik’s team won, he would receive a championship rematch at Héroes Inmortales. A loss would have prevented him from challenging Americano for the title for as long as Americano remained champion.
Dominik secured his opportunity after Dorian distracted referee Adrian Butler. Rey took Omos through the commentary table with a dive before Dominik removed his father’s mask out of the referee’s sight. Rey covered his face immediately but could not help any further in the match.
Dominik then struck Americano with the Mega Championship and covered him for the victory.
Two other championship matches were confirmed for Héroes Inmortales during the broadcast.
Los Perros del Mal will defend the AAA World Trios Championship against La Parka, Mr. Iguana & Niño Hamburguesa.
Rey Fenix will also defend the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against an opponent to be determined.
Mini Vikingo, Jack Cartwheel, Joaquin Wilde and Nobu San will meet in a four-way number-one contender’s match on the October 10 edition of AAA, with the winner advancing to face Fenix.
Héroes Inmortales takes place October 24 at Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City. The annual event was established to honor AAA founder Antonio Peña following his death in 2006.
