Netflix’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria is out as the streamer made a bold decision to let the executive go.

Bajaria helped oversee Netflix’s programming strategy with a $20 billion budget and was pivotal in WWE coming to Netflix in 2025.

When the deal was announced in early 2024, Bajaria was quoted, “(WWE) has been very under-distributed outside the US. I think there’s really great opportunity to still grow it outside the U.S.”

Bajaria was present for the first edition of Raw on the platform in January 2025 at the Intuit Dome and was interviewed on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast earlier this year.

The exit comes one day after Netflix cut approximately 1,000 jobs with an underperforming stock and stalled engagement on the platform. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos acknowledged the disappointing performance in a recent chat, saying the service was “Not growing as fast as I want us to.”

Former Fox and Disney executive Peter Rice will replace Bajaria.
