One of the matches on the marquee for NJPW’s 2018 Sakura Genesis event was an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship bout between Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll.
At one point during the 30-minute bout, Ospreay went for a Spanish Fly off the ring apron and when they were coming down, Ospreay’s neck hit the apron.
During his appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Ospreay said he has not been the same since that spot. He remembers Chris Jericho calling him a month or so after and expressing concern.

On the New Japan front, the 2025 Sakura Genesis show is coming up in April. The main event will feature an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match.
The challenger in that bout is going to be determined via the New Japan Cup tournament which began on March 7th.
