Mustafa Ali beats the reportedly departing Ace Austin

TNA Wrestling’s final week of TV from a taping earlier this month in Irvine, California, started with a dirty tactics win from Mustafa Ali against Ace Austin.

Ali utilized manager Tasha Steelz during his match, first using her as a shield, then throwing her into Austin as a distraction. Caught off guard by the move, Austin then had the back of his left leg attacked by Ali, then had a heel hook applied for the finish.

Per articles published by Scott D’Amore and PWInsider this week, this match is expected to be the final TNA appearance from Austin before he parts ways with the promotion.

Aztec Warriors pick up win over Northern Armory

The Aztec Warriors duo of Laredo and Octagon Jr. picked up a win over The Northern Armory’s Judas Icarus and Travis Williams. A major focus during the match was put on Eric Young, who was irate at fans while ringside.

The Aztec Warriors were high-flying throughout the match, including a huge moonsault off the top to the outside against both Northern Armory members.

Eddie Edwards wins tune-up before Friday’s match against Cody Deaner

Ahead of his match across from Cody Deaner on Friday night, Eddie Edwards had a singles appearance against OVW vet Jake Painter. While the match initially looked like it would be a sub-minute squash win for Edwards, Painter actually showed some life before his inevitable loss, getting finished off with a Boston Knee Party.

Deaner, who was on commentary during the match, stood up afterward. “I’m not just going to beat you because I want to. I’m going to beat you because I need to,” he said. For those out of the loop, the stipulation for Friday’s match is that Deaner will leave TNA Wrestling if he loses.

AJ Francis takes tag win over Mike Santana before Under Siege match

Before their singles matchup on Friday, Mike Santana and AJ Francis faced off in a tag bout. Francis teamed with his First Class friend KC Navarro, and Santana enlisted Sami Callihan for the tag bout.

Santana and Callihan were closing in on a win, but the First Class duo was able to steal it from them. Francis interrupted an attempted double-team move by the duo, dragging Santana outside of the ring. Francis then distracted Callihan, allowing Navarro to land a 305 (modified 619), then a Blessing In Disguise for the win.

Tessa Blanchard interrupts debate class

The beef between Santino Marella and Robert Stone was taken to a debate club this week.

Marella and Stone had a face-to-face debate in the next segment of the show. Stone argued that Marella has done nothing to improve TNA since he became the promotion’s manager, and that he shouldn’t be in a position of power, better yet, in wrestling as a whole. Marella argued that he has a sense of what the people want: “I am the people. The people here, this is my extension family,” he said.

Marella’s fired-up promo was interrupted by Tessa Blanchard, who went after Ariana Grace, her opponent at Friday’s Under Siege card. Masha Slamovich came to even the odds. While Blanchard attempted to put Slamovich through a table, it was instead Grace and Slamovich who teamed up to use the weapon. Slamovich powerbombed Blanchard onto the table, then did a back bodydrop onto the table as it was set up in a corner of the ring – the table did not break.

Spitfire earn win ahead of high-stakes title bout

It was announced in a backstage segment that Matt Cardona will challenge Steve Maclin for the TNA International Championship on next week’s episode of Impact.

The Spitfire duo of Dani Luna and Jody Threat picked up a win ahead of their Knockouts Tag Team Championships match this weekend, beating Mazzerati and Vipress. Luna scored a German Suplex off the second rope, then did a double team Pressure Drop finisher along with Threat to end the bout.

This match was used to put a spotlight on the fact that Spitfire recently agreed that they will split up if they can’t defeat Ash and Heather by Elegance at Under Siege on Friday night. Ash and Heather attempted to jump Spitfire after the match, but the soon-to-be title challengers were able to evade their attack and take them out.

Elijah and Joe Hendry perform in front of Trick Williams

The broadcast gave a rundown of Friday’s Under Siege card before the main event. Notably, Ace Austin was pulled from an eight-man match he was promoted for earlier in the card, with a mystery opponent taking his place.

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry teamed with Elijah to defeat The System’s Brian Myers and Moose in the main event of Thursday’s card. NXT’s Trick Williams was on commentary ahead of his busy weekend in a feud with Hendry. On Friday, Williams will team with Frankie Kazarian to take on Elijah and Hendry. Then on Sunday at NXT Battleground, the two will meet in a TNA title bout.

Hendry and Elijah came out on top clean, with Elijah scoring a piledriver on Myers for the pinfall victory. While they stood tall briefly ahead of their tag matchup on Friday, their celebration was cut short by Kazarian, who jumped the tag duo. During the beatdown, Kazarian called for Williams to help out, but the NXT star wasn’t having it: “Trick Willy only cares about Trick Willy,” he said.

The distraction allowed Elijah to crack Kazarian over the head with a guitar, letting the babyfaces continue their celebration as the show concluded.
