A Super Sol Snatcher keeps Sol Ruca’s reign alive

The first of four title matches kicked off tonight’s action in Tampa, Florida. NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca, accompanied by Zaria, put her title on the line against Kelani Jordan. This match was a chance for Jordan to regain a belt she held for 140 days back in 2024, beginning at last year’s Battleground card.

The match started with a quick sequence of reversals between the two, showing off their quickness. The two exchanged pin attempts in the second minute of the bout. Jordan scored a two-count with a crucifix bomb into a pin attempt.

Ruca got tripped up in the ropes by Jordan, allowing the challenger to score a draping legdrop to the champ’s back. Jordan kept her momentum going with a Northern Lights suplex, which she bridged into another two-count. Jordan scored a back body drop, then applied a single leg Boston Crab in the middle of the ring, eventually letting go of the hold for another pin attempt.

Ruca found her footing in the match at five minutes, countering a top-rope move attempt from Jordan into a super-X Factor.

The match went over to the ring apron, where a kick sent Ruca tumbling to the floor. Jordan landed a springboard moonsault, then brought the fight back into the ring.

Ruca sent Jordan out of the ring after a series of reversals ended with a modified backstabber, of sorts. Ruca then delivered her own dive, doing an incredibly impressive moonsault to the outside.

Ruca got a near fall with a springboard frogsplash. Ruca tried for another move, but Jordan countered it into a DDT. Jordan then came off the top rope with a frogsplash of her own, which didn’t end the match.

Both women went to the top, where Jordan tried to hit a super Poisonrana. Ruca instead landed on her feet, then hit Jordan with a spear for a two-count. Crowd started chanting, “This is awesome.”

A Sol Snatcher was stopped by Jordan, who hit a Spanish Fly off the top. The two traded strikes in the ring, then Jordan pushed Ruca to the mat with a kick. Jordan tried for a split-legged moonsault, but Zaria pulled Ruca out of the way. The referee kicked Zaria out from ringside after this moment.

The ejection of Zaria briefly distracted Ruca, who ate a baseball slide kick to the back from Jordan while at ringside. Back in the ring, the two battled to the top rope. Ruca pushed Jordan back down onto the mat, then delivered a Sol Snatcher off the top rope for a pinfall win in nearly 13 minutes. Ruca has now defended her Women’s North American Championship for the first time.

Josh Briggs reunites with Yoshiki Inamura following tag win

In the locker room, AAA wrestlers Dalys and Chik Tormenta were shown talking to NXT manager Ava.

TNA’s Mike Santana was interviewed backstage, where he said he wants to face the winner of Joe Hendry vs. Trick Williams for the TNA World Championship. He was interrupted by the No Quarter Catch Crew, with Charlie Dempsey referring to him as an “outsider.” Tavion Heights, who was more respectful, called for a match against Santana on Tuesday night’s NXT, which Santana was happy to accept.

Six-man tag action was next, as the duo of Hank and Tank teamed up with Josh Briggs to face The Culling’s Brooks Jensen, Niko Vance, and Shawn Spears. Izzi Dame was at ringside in support of The Culling.

The babyface trio had a hot start to the match, picking on Vance before a triple dive to the outside took out all of The Culling. However, the momentum didn’t last long. The Culling regained control of the match after Hank, the legal man on the babyface side, was launched into a ringpost.

Hank was picked apart by the heel team, eventually giving a hot tag to Tank. The Culling got taken out by Tank, who, among many moves, did a senton off the apron onto Vance.

Hank and Tank did a double team superplex to Spears. However, moments later, Jensen and Vance came off the top rope to take out Hank & Tank with moves of their own. Briggs then showed his high-flying skills, hitting a moonsault onto Spears.

Spears took out Briggs with a tope suicida as a Dominator double team move was given to Tank by Vance and Jensen. Hank came in to break up a pin attempt that followed, but was noticeably late. The crowd did not like that the late pin break counted, as it plausibly could’ve been a three-count to end the match. Cue the “ref you suck!” chants.

Jensen got a near fall after Dame kicked Briggs in the head while the referee wasn’t looking. Briggs avoided a splash in the corner from Jensen and then scored a massive clothesline. Hank & Tank got into the ring and delivered their double-team Honk Honk move, then put together a double-team powerslam for the finish.

The Culling wanted more afterward, as a brawl broke out after the match. Dame was instructed to get a chair for them, but as she reached for a chair at ringside, someone stopped her. Dame turned around… And it was Yoshiki Inamura, the tag partner of Briggs, who many thought had recently finished his NXT excursion and returned to Japan. The two hugged and reunited to end the segment.

Backstage, Ava told Ethan Page that the winner of his North American Championship match against Ricky Saints on Tuesday’s NXT will defend the title at Worlds Collide next month.

Channing Lorenzo uses low blow to defeat Tony D’Angelo as Luca Crusifino watches on

Family matters were settled in the next match, as Tony D’Angelo and Channing Loreno met in singles action.

Considering the tension between these two, it’s not surprising that this match started with a prolonged staredown. D’Angelo started the action by slapping Lorenzo, then throwing him to the mat for some ground and pound. Lorenzo was sent outside the ring early with a clothesline over the ropes.

D’Angelo tossed Lorenzo back into the ring, where “Stacks” was able to unleash his own flurry of ground and pound shots. D’Angelo delivered a back body drop, then came running off the ropes with a forearm. The match went back to the outside, as a belly-to-belly throw from D’Angleo sent Lorenzo over the ropes.

D’Angelo came charging at Lorenzo with a hard clothesline, then tossed him all around the place: Into the side of the ring, the ringpost, and a barricade. Lorenzo was taking a beating, but not out of it. In fact, after D’Angelo taunted for a moment, Lorenzo tossed him into steel steps, then scored a hard dropkick to the body.

Lorenzo threw D’Angelo back into the ring, where the hectic pace of the fight finally slowed. At the six-minute mark of the match, a modified knee version of a curbstomp from Lorenzo earned a two-count. D’Angelo scored a belly-to-belly German suplex to kick off a comeback in the ring. He connected with two more suplexes, then a spinebuster.

Lorenzo tried for another modified curbstomp, but D’Angelo avoided the move. D’Angelo landed a German Suplex bridged into a pin attempt, which got a two-count. D’Angelo came charging forward at Lorenzo, but Lorenzo jumped into a submission attempt, taking the fight to the mat. D’Angelo escaped a triangle choke with a powerbomb, then started to unload with punches from the top.

D’Angelo seemed to struggle with his emotions at this point, suddenly stopping his flow of strikes and looking reflective. Lorenzo capitalized on this hesitancy, taking the fight to the apron and running D’Angelo into a ringpost. Lorenzo tried to land on D’Angelo while he was sitting against the ringpost on the apron, but D’Angelo avoided. Instead, Loreno went flying into the ringpost.

The fight returned to the ring, where D’Angelo scored a head kick and then a fisherman neckbreaker for a two count. Lorenzo resisted an Irish Whip to the outside, then draped D’Angelo on a middle ring rope for a springboard dropkick.

Lorenzo started to look for a crowbar under the ring, but it wasn’t there. This moment caught Lorenzo off guard and got D’Angelo back into control. He hit a spear, then a series of forearms to the back of Lorenzo’s head.

Lorenzo tried to apologize and stop the fight, but D’Angelo wasn’t having it. D’Angelo hit a spinebuster, but then was distracted by the presence of Luca Crusifino, who suddenly appeared at ringside. It was unclear who Crusifino was there to support, if anyone.

While the referee was looking at Crusifino, Lorenzo dropped D’Angelo with a low blow. He then scored a Shining Wizard to the back of D’Angelo’s head for the win in 15 minutes.

Crusifino entered the ring afterwards and tried for a hug with D’Angelo, but he denied it. We still don’t know where Crusifino stands in the family’s beef.

Stephanie Vaquer retains against Jordynne Grace

A big title match was next, as former TNA Women’s World Champion Jordynne Grace chased her first WWE title by facing NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer.

The first couple of minutes in this match were technical, with the two fighters reversing each other in quick combinations. Vaquer tried to put Grace in her signature double knees to the head striking combo on the mat, but Grace escaped the move by rolling both of them to the outside. Vaquer was thrown over the commentary desk, then tossed into the ringside barricade before the fight returned to the ring.

Grace put in a Boston Crab, which Vaquer escaped by reaching the ropes. Grace picked up Vaquer and ran her head-first into the top turnbuckle, but Vaquer reversed a fireman’s carry into a rear naked choke. Grace escaped the hold by landing them both back-first onto the canvas.

Grace tried for a Vader Bomb after slamming Vaquer to the mat, but the champ escaped. Vaquer caught Grace in an armbar, then came off the ropes with a crossbody. She scored an Eat Defeat, then a clothesline in the corner. Vaquer continued to be on a roll, hitting a double knee Meteora to Grace in while still in the corner.

Vaquer brought Grace into the middle of the ring, where, upon a second attempt, she was finally able to hit her knee strike combo. Grace had a solid sequence as the bout neared the 10-minute mark: She scored a spinebuster, then a powerbomb for a near fall.

Vaquer landed a German Suplex and then a DDT for a near fall. She climbed to the top, but was joined up there by Grace, who showed some disrespect by slapping her a few times. Grace hit a Superplex, then transitioned into another suplex right after landing for a two-count.

A series of reversals saw signature moves from both wrestlers stopped in-between roll-up pin attempts. Vaquer knocked Grace out of the ring with a thrust kick, ending the back-and-forth sequence. Grace picked Vaquer up outside the ring, but Vaquer escaped a fireman’s carry and tossed Grace through a barricade.

Vaquer brought Grace back into the ring and hit an SVB for a two-count. Shocked by the kick-out, Vaquer tried for the finisher again. Grace resisted this time, starting a back-and-forth striking exchange between the two. Vaquer climbed to the top after a Dragonscrew leg whip, but had her climb stopped by Grace, who joined her in the corner.

Grace was thrown to the mat by Vaquer, who came flying from the top with a Spiral Tap to win in 16 minutes. Vaquer is still the NXT Women’s Champion. She stared down AAA’s Dalys and Chik Tormenta as the segment came to a close.

Ricky Saints and Ethan Page meet ahead of Tuesday’s title fight

NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints was in the ring for an interview before the co-main event of the night. Saints expressed his willingness to defend the title against Ethan Page on Tuesday’s episode of NXT, and his interest in putting his title on the line against Worlds Collide.

As Saints was cutting a promo, Page appeared from the crowd, attempting to jump him. Saints noticed Page approaching and wasn’t caught off guard, but a brawl between the two kicked off nonetheless. After security guards pulled them apart, Saints came flying off the top rope and to the outside, taking out Page and the security personnel at ringside.

Oba Femi hits finisher three times to put away Myles Borne

Myles Borne looked to end the 139-day NXT Championship reign of Oba Femi in Sunday’s second-last bout of the night.

Borne scored a dropkick 90 seconds into the bout which woke up Femi, starting to bring out his bigger moves after a slow start. Borne was sent to the mat with a hard shoulder tackle.

Borne tried to score a crossbody but was caught and thrown into the corner. However, as they climbed the corner, Borne was able to push Femi off and then land a crossbody off a turnbuckle. Femi got back in control by tossing Borne onto the top rope, stomach-first.

Femi beat Borne up for the next few minutes, proving why he’s the champ. He proclaimed that Borne was “not ready” as he threw him around the ring. Borne showed some life briefly, hurting Femi with a dropkick, but the champ regained control of the bout immediately after that move.

Borne escaped a suplex from Femi, sending the champ off the ring apron and to the outside. He tried for a dive to the outside, but instead ate a nasty forearm to the head once he reached the ropes. Femi scored a near fall with a gut check as the match approached the 10-minute mark.

Everyone was looking for when Borne would get the opening for a comeback, and it finally emerged when he dodged an attack from Femi, causing the champ to go head-first into a ringpost. Femi went out of the ring after taking a dropkick, allowing Borne to land a dive over the top rope and top the outside.

Borne came off the top with a forearm strike to Femi for a two-count. After two reversals, Borne hit a powerslam for another near fall. The crowd was starting to really get into the match by this point.

Femi caught Borne as he tried for a standing moonsault, grabbing him by the throat and standing up for a chokeslam. A chain of reversals included Femi trying for his Fall From Grace finisher, although Borne reversed it into a hurricanrana for a pin attempt.

Femi tried for a splash into the corner, but Borne caught him for a German Suplex. Borne went to the top for a frogsplash as it seemed like he was closing in on a win. Yet, the move didn’t put away Femi.

The two traded blows on the feet, with a dropkick from Borne ending the sequence. He came running off the ropes, but Femi threw him in the air for an uppercut. Femi then hit his Fall From Grace finisher. But, surprisingly, that wasn’t enough to beat Borne.

Borne came close with a roll-up pin attempt, but ate a nasty clothesline right after. Femi tossed Borne across the ring, then hit another Fall From Grace. And just to be safe, one more to win in just under 17 minutes. Femi was pushed to the brink of defeat, but he’s still the NXT Champion.

Femi nodded in approval to Borne as he left the ring.

Backstage, Jacy Jayne slapped Stephanie Vaquer, causing a brawl to break out.

Four segments were announced for Tuesday’s NXT before the main event:

  • Ricky Saints vs. Ethan Page (NXT North American Championship)
  • LFG Season 1 Winner Jasper Troy to make in-ring debut
  • Tatum Paxley vs. Jaida Parker
  • Mike Santana vs. Tavion Heights

Trick Williams overcomes Joe Hendry to claim TNA World Championship

The main event of the night saw TNA World Champion Joe Hendry look to keep hold of his belt against NXT’s Trick Williams.

After a minute of posturing and posing, Hendry sent Williams outside with a pair of chops and then a clothesline against the ropes. Hendry fired up the crowd with a dive over the top rope, taking out Williams.

Back in the ring, Hendry hit a shoulder tackle, then scored a delayed suplex. Williams got back into the bout, tossing Hendry across the ring. He received some boos after mocking Hendry’s turnaround pose. Moments later, a Bookend from Williams earned a two-count.

Williams climbed to the top, but Hendry met him up there to land a fallaway slam. Hendry tried to wear Williams down with a trio of pin attempts, but Williams gave him a front kick to the head immediately after.

The two traded strikes in the middle of the ring, a sequence which was stopped by an axe kick from Williams. Williams did a Spinaroonie afterward, an ode to Booker T, who was on commentary at ringside. However, this taunt distracted Williams, letting Hendry hit a Uranage for a two-count.

Williams got a two-count with a pair of high kicks and then an Attitude Adjustment. He came off the middle rope with a crossbody, but Hendry reversed the attempt into a slam for a near fall.

The fight went to ringside, where Williams tossed Hendry into a steel staircase. Williams kept picking apart Hendry as the fight went back to the ring. A neckbreaker rendered a two-count for Williams at the 10-minute point of the main event.

Williams took Hendry to the mat with a guillotine choke, but Hendry powered out of the move and hit a suplex. Hendry pieced together a few moves as part of a comeback, including another fallaway slam. After a series of reversals, Hendry connected with his finisher, the Standing Ovation. However, as Hendry tried for a pin, Williams put a leg on the bottom rope to break the count.

Williams escaped a move from Hendry for a spinning head kick. The fight went to ringside again, where Hendry was sent into the steel steps after being tripped. Williams then hit another Bookend, this time onto the commentary table. He hit a Trickshot in the ring, but it wasn’t enough to put away Hendry just yet.

Williams brought the TNA belt into the ring, causing the ref to wrestle it out of his grasp. After a failed roll-up attempt, Hendry tried for another Standing Ovation. However, as Hendry lifted him up, Williams gouged his eyes. Williams escaped the move, then slammed Hendry stomach-first to the mat, causing his head to land onto the TNA title. Williams then scored another Trickshot to win in 15 minutes.

NXT’s Williams is now the TNA World Champion, ending the 127-day of Hendry.
