Marcus “Buff” Bagwell undergoes leg amputation after 2020 car wreck

Marcus “Buff” Bagwell has documented the process that has led to his right leg being amputated after a 2020 car accident.

Bagwell shared that in August 2020, he was involved in a crash that led to his patella tendon caving in, beginning a long process of trying to fix his leg.

He was hospitalized for seven weeks at one point and underwent twenty-one surgeries during that time. He stated this led to excessive drinking and isolation, and he called it a dark period for him.

Bagwell credits Diamond Dallas Page for helping him achieve sobriety and attend rehab in August 2022. He has been sober for the past three years.

After a procedure on his right knee, he contracted an infection, which led to the necessity of amputating the leg. He was told that trying to save the leg would require multiple surgeries over one year, physical therapy, and the insertion of a steel rod, and that there would still only be a twenty percent chance of saving it. So, he opted to have it amputated.

Bagwell underwent the amputation earlier this month and invited Maven Huffman to share footage of him in the hospital after the procedure.

Bagwell, 55, entered professional wrestling in 1990 and became a major star in WCW during the peak of the Monday Night War as a member of the N.W.O.
