After that, CM Punk was out and talked about how he plans to give Gunther everything he has at SummerSlam. Punk reminded everyone he is the “best in the world,” and with that, Gunther emerged. Gunther said that he was going to drop Punk like a “wet towel”.
Has Gunther met his match?

Stephanie Vaquer was interviewed in the backstage area, and Naomi interrupted, saying that she was going to beat Iyo, and they would face each other at Clash in Paris. Naomi noted that Iyo was walking Vaquer like a dog before their match got interrupted and laughed maniacally before walking off.
Sheamus vs. Rusev II
The first match of the night was the second match (in what feels like will be many more) between Rusev and Sheamus. Much like in their last matchup, both men brawled heartily back and forth, landing consistent stiff blows. Rusev again removed the turnbuckle cover but was thrust into it by Sheamus instead. The referee then went to fix the turnbuckle, and Rusev grabbed Sheamus’ shillelagh, but Sheamus hit the Bogue Kick for the pinfall victory.

Backstage, El Grande Americano was interviewed and spoke in Spanish when Dragon Lee interrupted, calling him fake and an insult to luchadors everywhere. This led to a pull-apart and seemingly a match later tonight.

Lyra Valkyria approached Bayley backstage, confounded that Bayley had asked for them to get a tag title shot tonight. Bayley said that they never got a chance at WrestleMania, so now they had their shot.
#1 Contender’s Match
Next, The New Day, the LWO, and The Creeds faced off in a triple threat match to see who would earn a shot at the World Tag Team Championships. All three teams showed out, but once Joaquin Wilde went to the top rope, Ivy Nile pushed him off, which immediately got Dragon Lee involved as well. This brought out El Grande Americano, who attacked Lee, but The Creeds were annoyed that he was there. All this chaos allowed for the LWO to roll up Kofi Kingston for the victory.

Backstage, Iyo Sky and the Kabuki Warriors dreamed of all three of them being champions simultaneously. Stephanie Vaquer entered, and Iyo said she had her beat at WrestleMania. Vaquer suggested they didn’t have to wait until Paris to find out. Sky suggested they face off tonight, and Vaquer accepted.
During an ad break, TNA World Champion Trick Williams was interviewed and said he was going to confront The Undertaker on NXT tomorrow night.
Adam Pearce was backstage with Dominik Mysterio, and Dom was still stalling for getting cleared. AJ Styles then appeared as a janitor, mopping the floor when New Day entered, complaining that nothing makes sense anymore. Grayson Waller approached and said that Austin Theory was injured, and he was finally done with him. Waller said he was a free agent, and New Day seemed miffed.
Becky Lynch is in Happy Gilmore II?
Becky Lynch was out next and complained that she should be in New York at the premiere of Happy Gilmore II, which she is apparently in. Becky said that the last time she walked out of MetLife Stadium, she was “Becky Two Belts” and called out Lyra Valkyria. Becky noted that they were 1-1 in single action, and the trilogy ends at SummerSlam. Becky suggested a stipulation that if Lyra does not win, she will never be allowed to challenge for the Intercontinental Championship again. Lyra agreed and offered her stipulation: no count-outs and no disqualifications. Becky wanted to shake hands, but Lyra hit her with the Manhandle Slam instead. This brought out Lyra’s tag team partner, Bayley.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
As the match began, Corey Graves wondered what Bayley was thinking – specifically that Lyra would have to wrestle twice at SummerSlam if they were to win. Both Graves and Cole kept emphasizing that Bayley was acting “bizarre” and was nothing like they were used to. Valkyria twice didn’t seem to want to go for a pinfall attempt after what seemed like a potential win. If anything, Lyra was acting bizarre. At one point, Dominik got on the apron and distracted Lyra and Bayley. Raquel Rodriguez then accidentally kicked Dom in the face, and AJ Styles appeared as a doctor to help him. Then Becky Lynch appeared, attacking Lyra. Rodriguez then blind-tagged in as Bayley hit Bayley to Belly on Roxanne, and Raquel hit the Tahana Bomb on Bayley for the win.

Sami Zayn was interviewed in the back and was asked about being out indefinitely, which was the claim last week. Zayn said he wasn’t 100% but he had to finish this.
Backstage, Adam Pearce demanded that Dominik go to the medical room; otherwise, he would strip him of the Intercontinental Championship.
Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross II
Next was the second iteration of Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross. This was essentially running back their prior match, with Zayn’s ribs injured just like last time, and even Zayn doing the Sabu tribute in the middle of the match. At one point, Scarlett pulled out the steel pipe that Kross had used many times now, and Kross nailed Sami in the ribs with it behind the referee’s back for the win. Kross seemed to have busted his nose during this match, as he was bleeding. Again, Kross yelled at Zayn to “say it” after the match.

Stephanie Vaquer vs. Iyo Sky
The next match was set up earlier in the night with Stephanie Vaquer taking on Iyo Sky. Both Sky and Vaquer impressed in this one, even though the crowd seemed to have lost their energy by this point in the evening. Although they did have a big reaction to the Devil’s Kiss, which prompted them to chant “this is awesome” after being mostly silent for the majority of the match. Vaquer then stopped Sky’s attempt at Over the Moonsault and hit a reverse superplex as the crowd chanted “holy shit”. The Secret Hervice then came out and Vaquer took them out. Chelsea Green then appeared, attacking Vaquer and causing the disqualification. Iyo Sky then teamed up with Vaquer to fight off the heels when Naomi appeared, attacking Sky. This brought out Rhea Ripley, who fought off Naomi. Sky, Ripley, and Vaquer then triple-teamed Chelsea Green with Ripley hitting Green with the Riptide.

The OTC Speaks
Paul Heyman came down to the ring with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, and Heyman said he had a lot of things to get off his chest before Roman Reigns came out. This, of course, brought out Reigns immediately. Heyman said that Seth Rollins was going to be out of action for “a long, long time” and proposed Reigns take over their group with Rollins out. Reigns said Heyman wasn’t a wise man anymore; he was a dumbass. Reigns then warned Bron Breakker that Heyman would try to take credit for his success.

Breakker then got on the mic and said he was the future of WWE and the “top dog” now. Reigns then hit Breakker with the Superman Punch, and Breakker responded with a spear. Breakker and Reed started double-teaming Reigns when Jey Uso appeared, evening the odds. Roman and Jey each hit a spear to send the heels packing as the show ended.
