In what was a “surreal” segment, Brooke Hogan called into The Bubba Love Sponge Show to speak about the final years of her late father and how their relationship drifted.
Brooke called into Bubba’s show on Tuesday, which the host stated was the first time they had spoken since 2011, before the leaking of a sex tape involving Terry Bollea a.k.a. Hulk Hogan and Bubba’s ex-wife, Heather Cole.
Hogan can be heard on the tape using racist language while speaking about Brooke’s former record producer, Cecile Barker, and his son, Yannique. Hogan believed Brooke was dating Yannique.
Brooke got on the phone and stated that she forgave Bubba for the problems caused by the sex tape, backing up Bubba’s claim that he was not the one responsible for leaking it, although he did record it in his home and had a copy, which was allegedly stolen from his work office. Brooke stated that her father knew Bubba was not the one who leaked it.
Bubba has been at the forefront reporting on Bollea’s health, weeks before his death on July 24.
Brooke reiterated that she had removed herself from her father’s will. She was fearful of a fight over Hogan’s estate involving her mother, Linda, or through widow Sky Daily’s affiliation with the Church of Scientology.
She was complimentary toward Sky Daily, noting she was always “nice” to Brooke, but that her father had privately mentioned feeling pressured by Daily to get married and that it would be “really bad” if he broke up with her. Shortly after that conversation, Brooke said Hogan “did a 180” and married Daily, and she eventually fell out of contact with her father.
Brooke was extremely candid about her tumultuous relationship with her father, stating she was aware of all the affairs he had while married to Linda, including the one which led to the infamous sex tape that included language about Brooke.
Brooke has many questions about her father’s death and noted how much care she and Jennifer McDaniel (Hogan’s second wife) took when Hogan would undergo past surgeries and usage of anesthesia. She had no knowledge of her father ever battling leukemia and was unsure why an autopsy was not performed before being cremated, which Bubba also questioned in a previous broadcast.
In the final years, Hogan refused to walk Brooke down the aisle when she married NHL player Steve Oleksy, telling his daughter that he “doesn’t do weddings or funerals anymore”, and never met Brooke’s twins.
There were several very sad revelations, including Hogan allegedly telling Brooke that if he could go back, he would have chosen not to have children, and another instance where Bubba informed Brooke of her father’s scheme to end her record deal at SoBe Entertainment.
This past week, TMZ reported Brooke was resuming her music career with SoBe Entertainment.
Brooke was hopeful of being entrusted with her father’s intellectual property after his death, but was unsure who would end up with the rights.
