Trick Williams & AJ Francis vs. Mike Santana & Steve Maclin

Early on, Maclin held down the rope as Santana landed a dive on Williams and Francis. Santana went for the Rolling 150, but Francis stopped it with a clothesline to the back. The heels beat on Santana in their corner until he landed on his feet from a back suplex attempt and rolled to his corner.

Francis hit an Avalanche splash to Maclin as they gained the advantage on the International champion, Maclin hit a dropkick off the turnbuckle, and tagged Santana. Santana hit the Rolling 150 on Williams for a two-count, hit a Death Valley Driver, and Francis saved. Williams missed Maclin and stuck Francis with a leaping kick.

Williams ducked Spin the Block, but Santana avoided the Trick Shot and caught the TNA champion with a school boy for the cover.

WINNERS: Mike Santana & Steve Maclin

Santana and Williams continued to fight after the match, and it was a well-designed finish without relying on either man’s finishers being struck and Santana getting the pin to continue the lead-up for Bound for Glory. Santana looked really good in this match and feels like the top babyface in the company.

Gia Miller interviewed Cedric Alexander and Leon Slater. Alexander thinks they can be tag champions, but Slater is conflicted about facing his mentors, The Hardys, tonight, but admits it would be cool to have a second championship.

Eric Young vs. Myron Reed

Reed used a lung blower and sent Young flying over the to,p and followed with a dive. Young gouged the eye of Reed (right in front of the referee) and hit a Death Valley Driver.

A man in a ski mask was shown in the crowd with a sign, “The Cleanse is Coming”, which was Young’s message to Reed last week.

Young missed a moonsault off the top turnbuckle but came back with a powerslam moments later for a two-count. Young was upset over the count and held up his fist to threaten the female referee. While Zachary Wentz was on the apron with the referee, Young caught Reed with a low kick and hit the piledriver to win.

WINNER: Eric Young

Dani Luna reacted to her attack on Indi Hartwell last week in the gauntlet match. She said, “The whole world is talking about it”. Luna is done being quiet and being in second place and is “out of limbo”.

The Elegance Brand is backstage with Ash, celebrating after winning the Knockouts title and “saving” TNA, and entered The Elegance Era. She wants the most extravagant part next week in Minneapolis.

Fallon Henley & Jazmyn Nyx vs. The IInspiration (Jessie McKay & Cassie Lee)

Nyx used a Muta Lock on Lee and kept her in the heel’s corner. McKay received the tag and fired away on both. Nyx yanked McKay off the apron, and she landed on the edge with her face.

Lee hit Henley with a spin kick and hit the Idolizer to Nyx, and McKay scored the cover.

WINNERS: The IInspiration

Trick Williams is on the phone with his lawyer, complaining about being assaulted by Mike Santana after the match ended, and instructed them to come to the arena now.

Ryan Nemeth came out to “Where’s your brother?” chants. He said he’ll return next week. Alisha and Eddie Edwards interrupted and said The System needs to make amends, and everyone is waiting for someone to shut Nemeth’s mouth, and volunteers Eddie for that role.

Ryan Nemeth vs. Eddie Edwards

The audience was chanting for Edwards, but he got caught running into the corner and missed with his shoulder, going into the post. Nemeth taunted Alisha and allowed Edwards to start his comeback. The Backpack stunner was stopped with an eye rake, but Edwards overcame and hit a Tiger Driver and Boston Knee Party for the victory.

WINNER: Eddie Edwards

Gia Miller spoke with Indi Hartwell after the attack by Luna. She is okay but is disappointed in Luna and won’t back down from her. Santino Marella enters and makes a #1 contender’s match with Jody Threat. Dani Luna enters and complains, so Hartwell requests that Luna be added to the match, and Marella agrees.

TNA displayed some STILL PHOTOS of Joe Hendry appearing on the WWE’s U.K. shows with The Miz.

Eric Young denied being a conspiracy theorist and said maybe he’s the only one who can see clearly. He reveals Joe Hendry’s lifeless body on the ground, and Young said it started with Hendry but won’t end with him, and “the cleanse is coming”.

Tasha Steelz vs. Mara Sadé

Steelz insulted Sadé’s artistic skills last week, and now they fight to the death.

Sadé landed a missile dropkick and an enzuigiri, but was distracted by Order 4 as she climbed the turnbuckle, and Steelz capitalized.

Sadé hit her finisher called “Finish Her”, which is a double underhook lifting Steelz and dropping her opponent on her knees. The way Sadé landed it looked like it hurt her as much as Steelz. John Skyler & Jason Hotch got onto the apron, and Sadé hit a suicide dive on Skyler and stood in front of Agent Zero.

Sadé returned to the ring and walked into a cutter as Steelz used the rope for leverage and won.

WINNER: Tasha Steelz

Order Four held Sadé as Steelz struck her. Agent Zero entered the ring and nailed Sadé with a clothesline, which drew a reaction from the crowd.

The Hardys ran down and attacked Order Four and were alone with Agent Zero, clotheslined him out of the ring, but he landed on his feet and was held back by Order Four.

The Hardys vs. Leon Slater & Cedric Alexander in a non-title match

Matt Hardy tweaked his knee as he came off the second turnbuckle, but managed the Twist of Fate to Slater before tagging Jeff. Alexander pulled Slater to the floor as Jeff missed the Swanton Bomb. Alexander grounded Jeff, and they cut off the ring.

After the commercial break, Matt receives the tag and rams both men’s heads into the buckle and uses a side effect on Alexander. Alexander prevented a Twist of Fate with a dragon screw. Matt sent Alexander into the corner and knocked Slater off balance from the top.

Slater was tagged and called for the Swanton 450, but Jeff rolled away. Slater and Matt each blocked Twists of the Fate, and the Plot Twist was attempted with Jeff hitting the Twist of Fate, but Slater hit a cutter to Matt.

Slater climbed, but Alexander tagged himself. He missed the Swanton 450 and was thrown out of the ring. Slater was thrown into the steps, allowing Matt to return for a Twist of Fate followed by the Swanton on Alexander, and The Hardys won.

WINNERS: The Hardys

This was a great main event and easily the best on the show, with the four playing off each other so effectively. They tried to tell the story was Slater is trying to evolve from being awestruck by his heroes to being one of their contemporaries and using Alexander as the device to get there. Slater and Alexander looked really good as a team in this setting, and of course, the crowd was very heated for anything involving The Hardys, as they’re the top act in the company.

The four embraced after the match.

NEXT WEEK
:
*#1 Contender’s Match: Jody Threat vs. Indi Hartwell vs. Dani Luna
*The Hardys & Mara Sadé vs. The Great Hands & Tasha Steelz
*Ash by Elegance’s championship celebration
*Nic Nemeth returns

The final segment featured Trick Williams arriving with his lawyer, Michael O’Shea, and complained about Mike Santana attacking him after the match, calling this “a crime scene,” and these are unfair working conditions.

He said he doesn’t have to defend his title for fifty days (which was the number of days he had as of last week, but these episodes were taped on the same night).

Santino Marella walked out and did the (incorrect) math to determine that Williams would have to defend his title at Bound for Glory on October 12. The lawyer lectured Marella and was struck by the Cobra.

So, the show ended with the news that Trick Williams will defend the title on October 12, but they didn’t announce Mike Santana as his opponent.

Final Thoughts:

The main event six-man tag, was the highlight of the show and had good crowd reactions throughout the match. I really enjoyed seeing Leon Slater and Cedric Alexander together, and that could be a team worth investing in rather than just being a one-off. So far, Alexander has felt like a really solid pick-up for TNA as he’s performed in every situation he’s been placed in.

The main event is basically set for Bound for Glory with Trick Williams and Mike Santana unless they want to milk the chase a little longer before Santana officially receives the match, but by pinning Williams on this show, it’s essentially a lock. Santana feels so popular right now, and it was such a contrast seeing the usage of Joe Hendry in comparison, being knocked out cold in a throwaway backstage segment tonight, and an Eric Young feud on the horizon.

The rest of the wrestling ranged from average to forgettable.
