Riho is back and hopes to end one of AEW’s longest active title reigns in a matter of weeks.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion will challenge Mercedes Moné for the TBS Championship at AEW All Out on September 20, the promotion confirmed on Wednesday night.
The matchup was booked after Riho had an in-ring confrontation with Moné on this week’s episode of Dynamite. Riho broke up a post-match beatdown from Moné, who continued to attack opponent Alex Windsor after defeating her in a 15-minute contest.
The upcoming matchup will be a first-time pairing, as Riho hasn’t wrestled for a large portion of Moné’s time in AEW thus far. Riho’s last match took place in July 2024, when she suffered an injury during a match against Lady Frost.
She’s now back and hopes to end the reign of Moné, which has lasted over 460 days in total.
It was also confirmed on Wednesday that six-man tag action has joined All Out’s card, as The Hurt Syndicate will take on Ricochet and the Gates of Agony.
Ricochet and GoA called for the match on Wednesday’s Dynamite, claiming responsibility for the end of the trio’s run with the AEW World Tag Team Championships. MVP answered the challenge later in the program, saying that he looks forward to punching Ricochet in the mouth.
We learned on Wednesday that All Out has been moved to a 3 p.m. ET start time, an earlier-than-expected beginning for the promotion’s pay-per-view event at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The card is still without some of its bigger matchups, including the top men’s and women’s titles. However, it’s beginning to take form. Here’s a look at everything confirmed thus far:
- Adam Copeland & Christian Cage vs. Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood
- Ricochet, Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona vs. Bobby Lashley, MVP & Shelton Benjamin
- Mercedes Moné vs. Riho (TBS Championship)
