A double championship match featuring the World of Stardom and NJPW STRONG Women’s titles has been set for later this month.
The contest will see Saya Kamitani and AZM put their respective championships on the line when Stardom returns to Korakuen Hall on September 27th.
The challenge was made after Kamitani successfully defended her World of Stardom Championship against Bea Priestley on Saturday at the Yokohama Budokan. Following the match, AZM entered the ring and referenced her own recent victory over the champion.
“Do you remember losing to AZM at 5STAR GP?” AZM asked. “I came here to challenge for the red belt, and I’m fully qualified, right?”
Kamitani accepted the challenge, but only if AZM would also risk her championship. “You have another belt, right? That purple belt,” Kamitani stated. “If you’re willing to put that belt on the line, I’ll accept the challenge.”

Later in post-match comments, Kamitani confirmed the match was official.
On September 27 at Korakuen Hall, a double title match for the World and STRONG belts against AZM has been decided. I don’t care what kind of belts those are, but right now, Saya-sama needs ‘glory.’ Saya-sama’s ambition is the ‘Pro Wrestling Grand Prize MVP.’ AZM will just have to be my stepping stone.
AZM also addressed the upcoming match backstage.
I’ve wanted to have a long talk with Kamitani for a while, so I have plenty of qualifications to challenge. Since Kamitani says she wants this STRONG belt too, I’ll do it with that kind of determination in a double title match.
Priestley originally earned her title opportunity by defeating Kamitani during the round-robin portion of the 5STAR Grand Prix tournament last month. AZM subsequently defeated Kamitani in the Red Stars block semi-finals, giving her a claim to a championship match as well.
