Kento Miyahara became a three-time winner of All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Oudou Tournament on Monday.
The semi-finals and final of the annual tournament went down Monday in front of 1,469 fans at Korakuen Hall, with a familiar face taking the trophy and earning a shot at the Triple Crown.
Miyahara, 36, advanced to the final by beating Daisuke Sekimoto earlier in the evening before toppling Ryuki Honda. Miyahara won the final with the Shutdown German Suplex in just over sixteen minutes and won the Oudou tournament for the third time.
His road to the final went through Kengo Mashima, Naoya Nomura, Sekimoto, and Honda.
It was the third consecutive year for Honda to make it to the final before coming up short. He beat Kuma Arashi, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and Ren Ayabe before the loss to Miyahara.
Miyahara, who is a six-time Triple Crown holder, previously won the Oudou tournament in 2018 & 2022. He will challenge Jun Saito for the Triple Crown on September 23 in Tachikawa.
Miyahara posed in the ring with a trophy and a photo of the late Taishin Nagao, who died last week at the age of 21.
