AEW’s latest three-hour experiment with September to Remember saw an increase in viewership and a boost for Collision in the more favorable time slot.

The September 17 special from London, Ontario, saw the two-hour Dynamite portion average 667,000 viewers and 188,000 viewers (0.14) in the 18-49 demographic, followed by the third hour, designated for Collision, which averaged 535,000 viewers and 161,000 viewers (0.12) on TBS, excluding viewership from HBO Max.

The Dynamite portion saw the show attract its largest audience since August 13 and best figures in the 18-49 demographic since August 20. The overall viewership increased by 14% and the 18-49 audience grew by 12% from last week.

Female viewership experienced a spike, with women 18-49 averaging 87,000 viewers, a 53% increase from last week. This growth was accompanied by significant increases among females in the 18-34 and 35-49 demos.

Adults 18-34 averaged 74,000 viewers and were up by 40% from last week, which was also its largest number in that demo since August 13.

The Collision portion from 10-11 p.m. ET would be the fourth-largest audience for the show this year behind three episodes, which had either an NBA playoff or NCAA lead-in. Of course, this is completely contingent on following Dynamite.

The most interesting note from the Collision portion was that Adults 18-34 grew from 74,000 for Dynamite to 91,000 for the final hour, with a major increase among males from 33,000 to 58,000 viewers. There was also a minor increase of 7,000 viewers in males 18-49 for the last hour.

The older audience didn’t see a gain for the last hour, as Adults 35-49 dropped from 115,000 for Dynamite to 77,000 for Collision, with women in that demo nearly dropping in half.

Dynamite ranked fifth among cable programming on Wednesday, and Collision finished in sixth spot. The cable rankings were led by the Phoenix Mercury vs. New York Liberty playoff game with 1,014,000 viewers and 0.22 in the 18-49 demo on ESPN, and three programs on Fox News.

Wrestlenomics reports that the peak quarter was the opening fifteen minutes of Dynamite with 746,000 viewers and 0.16 in the 18-49 demographic, featuring the contract signing between Hangman Page and Kyle Fletcher without an ad break. The show bottomed out for the six-minute overrun at the end with Josh Alexander & Hechicero vs. Top Flight and the post-match attack on Hangman Page with 440,000 viewers and 0.09 in the demo. Before the drop in the overrun, the tag match main event did grow the demo from the previous quarter, but fell in overall viewership.
