The JAS Explodes

AEW Collision from Huntington, West Virginia, kicked off by bringing back the rotating promo parade that they used to use.  During Komander’s portion of the promos, the Clon glitch occurred, and when it ended, Kyle Fletcher had attacked Hologram and left him lying on the ground. Nigel McGuinness said later that Hologram was “badly injured” at the hands of Fletcher.

The first match saw The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia, and Claudio Castagnoli taking on Paragon’s Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong, along with Daddy Magic Matt Menard. The focus of this match was, of course, the long-standing relationship between Menard and Garcia. Menard tagged in early, and Garcia didn’t even turn around to face him before tagging out.

That didn’t last long, as finally Menard got his hand on Garcia and pummeled him with strikes. The pace picked up from there, with both teams going back and forth until Garcia stomped Menard’s head into the mat for the pinfall victory.

Backstage, Brody King cut a promo on the Don Callis Family, saying that when you try to kill a man, you have to make sure he’s dead. With that, he announced that it would be himself, Bandido, and Kenny Omega facing Josh Alexander and the Young Bucks this Wednesday on Dynamite.

Nigel McGuinness threw to a promo from Hangman post-Dynamite, but for some reason, instead, we jumped right into the next match.

Warm-Up Mixed Tag

The next match was Rachael Ellering and Rosario Grillo taking on Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir. This match lasted just over two minutes until Shafir applied Mother’s Milk, and Wheeler Yuta hit a Shining Wizard on Grillo. After the match, Yuta got on the mic and said Kris Statlander always turns her back on her friends, and he’s the only reason she’s champion. He then turned his attention to Darby Allin, saying that the Death Riders would put Allin’s dead body onto Mt. Everest. It seems like that would be tough, but I’m sure.

Next, the promo mentioned earlier, featuring Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Hangman Page, aired. Page said he was happy to step in with Shibata injured, especially since they helped him fight off the Death Riders at All In. Samoa Joe made a bunch of Back to School references, saying the Death Riders would learn their lesson next week.

The Acclaimed Reunite

Next up was the forced reunion of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster. Bowens now had his own plaque that said “World Record Holder – Officially Amazing.” Nigel said it would be explained later, but it never was. As expected, Caster and Bowens could not get along, tagging each other in and out as the match started. This allowed The Swirl’s Blake Christian and Lee Johnson to gain the early advantage.

The Swirl got the heat on Caster for quite a while, and they built toward a hot tag to Bowens, but Caster shook his head, saying no. After that, Bowens said, “Screw you, Max,” and went to leave. Jerry Lynn then appeared and convinced him to return. Bowens got the tag, feigned attacking Caster, then went after The Swirl. Johnson and Christian then hit a flurry of offense, only to have Caster make the last-minute save.  Miraculously, Caster & Bowens picked up the win after Bowens hit the Mollywhop on Johnson and Caster rolled him up for the win. After the match, Jerry Lynn and the crowd wanted the two to scissor, but Bowens took off.

A backstage promo featured Nick Wayne announcing that he was back in AEW, while Luchasaurus was no longer with them. Wayne addressed Christian Cage, saying that he made things much worse by breaking his foot.

An ’80s-style promo aired with Tony Schiavone promoting their upcoming Florida shows. This was awesome.

TayJay was asked about their reaction to the announcement of the Women’s Tag Team Championships, and as expected, they stated that they would do whatever it took to become the first champions.

The Outrunners & Dalton Castle

Next up, The Outrunners and Dalton Castle debuted as a new trio, taking on Cowpoke Paul, Corey Sparks, and KM. Notably, this was Dalton Castle’s first match back since July of 2024. This was over in ninety seconds after Castle hit the Bangarang.

A Mark Briscoe promo package aired, in which Briscoe stated that with MJF behind him, he could return to having fun with The Conglomeration.

TNT Championship

Next was the TNT Championship with Kyle Fletcher defending against the returning Komander. Tony and Nigel mentioned what happened at the start of the show with Fletcher attacking Hologram during the Clon glitching.

Komander didn’t show any ring rust, picking up right where he left off with his high-flying arsenal. During a commercial break, Fletcher played to the crowd, pointing to himself and getting cheers, but getting boos when pointing to Komander. In the middle of the match, Tony Schiavone announced that Hologram was injured and would not be able to compete for the TNT Championship on Wednesday.

Komander went on offense and hit a tiara on Fletcher to the floor with Fletcher’s feet just grazing the lens of the camera. Komander followed that up with a Springboard Top Rope Moonsault onto Fletcher on the outside. Fletcher finally recovered, hitting the Protostar Brainbuster for the win.

Afterwards, backstage, Kyle Fletcher cut a promo saying that both Komander and Hologram were scared of him. Fletcher said he still wanted to put his title on the line on Wednesday, and he needed someone to step up. Instantaneously, it was announced that Orange Cassidy would be the opponent.

Big Bill & Bryan Keith vs. Eddie Kingston & Hook

Next was Eddie Kingston and Hook taking on Big Bill and Bryan Keith. Before the match, Hook revealed that he had spoken to Tony Khan, and this was now a Tornado Tag match. Kingston was taken out early in the match, leaving Hook to work from underneath and try to overcome the two heels.

The two teams went back and forth until Kingston hit Keith with the Spinning Backfist, and Hook caught him in the Redrum for the tapout win.

Backstage, the Bang Bang Gang said they needed reinforcements, but it had to be someone from their past. With that, Ace Austin appeared, and Austin met Austin for the first time.

Jamie Hayter vs. Julia Hart III

The main event of Collision was the third-ever showdown between Jamie Hayter and Julia Hart. Hayter dominated with her strength in the early goings until Skye Blue got involved behind the referee’s back. After a commercial break, Blue tried again but was rewarded with a Snap Suplex on the floor for her troubles.

Julia Hart then hit a moonsault, but Hayter got her foot onto the rope before the three was counted. Hart then applied the Iron Octopus on Hayter, but it was reversed into a Tombstone for a nearfall. Hayter followed that up with the Hayterade for the win.

Skye Blue and Julia Hart jumped Hayter after the match, but Queen Aminata ran out to even the odds, chasing off the heels. Hayter got on the mic and said she was sick of Triangle of Madness. Hayter said the only way to solve this was Blood & Guts. Tony Schiavone fumbled a bit, wondering if it would happen on Wednesday, but then clarified that it would not be Wednesday, but “soon.”
