NJPW provided an updated attendance figure for Wrestle Kingdom 20, indicating heightened demand due to the event’s unique appeal.
The January 4 event has now sold 31,548 tickets with two months to go, and the retirement of Hiroshi Tanahashi is fueling demand.
This will be the largest attendance for the annual show since 2020, when the promotion ran back-to-back nights, including a first night sell-out announced with 40,008 tickets sold and 30,063 the next night.
The number has already surpassed last year’s attendance of 24,107, which was headlined by Zack Sabre Jr. defending the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Shota Umino. NJPW ran back-to-back shows with 16,300 attending the January 5 show featuring Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Ricochet and Kenny Omega vs. Gabe Kidd.
Tanahashi’s opponent has not been revealed.
