Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize reportedly refused to perform in a scheduled match at Saturday’s AEW Collision taping.
The incident was first reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider. According to the report, the tag team was due to lose to Tay Melo and Anna Jay.
Newell and Alize allegedly objected to the booking, stating they did not want to take another loss after losing their debut match the prior week.
Johnson reported that the pair left the taping approximately one hour before the match was scheduled to occur.
Hyan and Maya World served as replacements for the match against Melo and Jay. The report noted that both Hyan and World “gained points internally” with AEW management for stepping in at the last minute. The match was a brief squash win for TayJay.
Newell and Alize made their first AEW appearance in a backstage segment on the October 25 episode of Collision. Their in-ring debut took place on the November 1 edition of the show, where they were defeated by Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir in a match lasting under three minutes.
Newell, a Welsh wrestler formerly known as Tegan Nox, was released by WWE on November 1, 2024. Her time in WWE was marked by several serious knee injuries, but she completed runs in NXT and on the main roster, where she teamed with Shotzi.
Alize is an American wrestler trained by Booker T. She is perhaps best known for her time in Ring of Honor, where she advanced to the finals of the 2021 tournament to crown the inaugural ROH Women’s World Champion, ultimately losing to Rok-C.
Following the reported incident at the taping, Alize posted on X (formerly Twitter) that they “have SOOOO much to say.”
