Hip-hop artist Westside Gunn issued a lengthy statement on Saturday, announcing he will no longer support WWE.
The 43-year-old alleged poor treatment by the company, including being removed from a Raw event.
Gunn, a long-time wrestling fan whose music and album art frequently reference the sport, detailed his history of financial support for the brand:
For YEAAAAAARS I mean NOBODY w/ 2 feet has spent the amount of $ I have supporting and pushing a brand I’ve loved since I could remember, I sat front row at EVERY BIG SHOW literally… I made ppl who hated the product watch it again I made it look kool, when at the time ppl thought it was nerdy…
Gunn claimed he was ejected from the Monday Night Raw event in his hometown of Buffalo on March 3, just three minutes after the broadcast began. He stated he spent $5,000 for the seat.
I tried having conversations with 1 individual bc he’s causing all of these unnecessary cases and tbh he hates seeing a young black successful entrepreneur that could afford those seats… Monday night raw starts at 8pm I was kicked out by 803 after spending 5k for a seat plus travel, hotel etc…. in my own city for absolutely NOTHING!!!! No lie the kid in me heart broke that day…
The artist also stated he was previously threatened with legal action by WWE over his use of wrestling-related intellectual property in his music.
I was threatened to take everything out of my music which I only did to pay homage or my whole catalog would be demolished…
The statement comes after Gunn promoted his Heels Have Eyes mixtape trilogy, using images of “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase and Virgil on the album covers and on a billboard in Times Square.
Gunn noted he has since changed the artwork on streaming platforms to feature indie wrestler Joshua Bishop.
…so I said u know what I’m a show love only to the ppl that show love to me from now on… so u don’t have to worry about me pushing that product over there again… I’m honored to have @joshbishop187 on the trilogy cover bc he deserves it for believing in me from day one as my first official wrestler…
Gunn launched his own wrestling promotion, 4th ROPE, in the summer of 2024. The company has featured performers such as The Hardys, Mustafa Ali, Shelton Benjamin, and Zilla Fatu.
Before I even say this just know GOD IS THE GREATEST 🤲🏽
