Tatsumi Fujinami will wrestle on the New Japan anniversary event in Tokyo next month.
The 72-year-old Hall of Fame wrestler is set to team with son LEONA on the March 6 event at Ota City Gymnasium.
Fujinami wrestled El Furioso in the first match on New Japan’s inaugural event on March 6, 1972, at the same venue, headlined by Antonio Inoki versus Karl Gotch.
Fujinami is a six-time IWGP heavyweight champion, five-time tag team champion, and winner of the G1 Climax in 1993. He is a member of the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame, the WWE Hall of Fame, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in Wichita Falls, and the International Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in Albany, New York.
Last year, Fujinami teamed with LEONA & Hiromu Takahashi to face Hiroshi Tanahashi, Ryusuke Taguchi & Shota Umino on the Tanahashi Jam event in June.
