A Proper Night Off
Friday Night SmackDown from Ft Lauderdale kicked off with Cody Rhodes coming down to the ring and immediately getting cut off by Jacob Fatu. Fatu said that Cody wouldn’t be in the Elimination Chamber if it weren’t for Drew McIntyre last week. Fatu called out McIntyre, but Nick Aldis appeared, who said he gave McIntyre the night off. McIntyre then appeared in a luxury box and antagonized Fatu. Fatu went to charge into the crowd, but Aldis and security stopped him. Aldis directed security to eject McIntyre, then convinced Fatu to go discuss matters in his office. Cody then closed the segment by telling McIntyre that everyone was after him, not because he’s the champ, but because he’s an asshole.

Ilja Dragunov approached Carmelo Hayes backstage and told him that he would win the Chamber and go to WrestleMania. Hayes said to focus on his opponent tonight instead. Dragunov said he believed in Hayes, but he would not still be the United States Champion come WrestleMania. But first, he had to take care of Tama.
Nick Aldis was backstage with Jacob Fatu and promised Fatu he would give him Drew McIntyre, but Fatu had to wait. Fatu said he wouldn’t wait much longer and walked out of the building.
Ilja Dragunov vs. Tama Tonga
The first match of the night featured Tama Tonga, accompanied by MFT, taking on Ilja Dragunov. After a commercial break, both men exchanged heavy blows as Dragunov appeared to be bleeding from his nose and screaming, “This is fun”. The MFT distractions then began with Tanga Loa and JC Mateo distracting Dragunov. Tama Tonga hit the Cutthroat for the win in just under ten minutes.

Solo Sikoa got on the mic after the match but was attacked by Ilja Dragunov. It immediately turned into a five-on-one beatdown until Matt Cardona attempted to help, but was immediately taken out. Apoolo Crews then joined in and was taken out himself. Finally, the lights went out, and Uncle Howdy appeared on the screen. Howdy appeared to challenge Sikoa to a one-on-one match with everyone banned from ringside, but it was unclear.
Nick Aldis was backstage with Drew McIntyre, and Aldis threatened that if Drew keeps testing him, he’ll see what he can really do. McIntyre said he would leave right now, so it was obvious he would be back later in the show.
Randy Orton was interviewed and interrupted by Zelina and Aleister Black. Black poked at Orton, wondering what happened to the Legend Killer. Orton challenged Black to a match tonight, saying the only version of him is right in front of him.
After a break, “The Irresistible Forces” Nia Jax and Lash Legend were interviewed, and Jax said she would win the Chamber qualifying match tonight and they would win the Women’s tag titles as well.
Jade Cargill Promo
Next up, WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill cut a promo in the ring, saying that Jordynne Grace wasn’t good enough for her. Jade said she would be in Atlanta on Monday to hear what Liv Morgan’s decision for WrestleMania would be. She concluded that she would also beat whoever won the Elimination Chamber, too, if Morgan didn’t pick her. As Jade was walking to the back, Charlotte Flair appeared, and the two had a brief staredown on the ramp.

Women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
The next match was the first of two Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches on the night, with the first being Charlotte Flair vs. Kiana James vs. Nia Jax. Early on, Kiana James attempted to create an alliance with Nia Jax, but Jax immediately turned on her. After an ad break, Charlotte gained control of the match, building to a moonsault on both opponents for a near fall. James then almost stole it after easily lifting Nia Jax up and hitting her with a Samoan Drop of her own – even leading the crowd to chant “Kiana”.

Flair then hit a Spanish Fly on James, and for some reason, James didn’t quite get her shoulder up on the count. Flair applied the Figure Four, but Jax broke it up. Jax hit the Annihilator on James, but Flair broke up the pin. Finally, Flair put Jax in the Figure Eight, but Kiana James snuck underneath and pinned Flair for the win. This match was cleverly planned, but the execution left a bit to be desired.

Backstage, Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley were interviewed, saying that Kiana’s partner, Giulia, was going down tonight, and next week they would take care of Jax and Legend in their title defense.
Oba Femi vs. Kit Wilson
The next match was a rematch from two weeks prior, with Kit Wilson taking on Oba Femi. For some reason, the referee rang the bell with Kit Wilson outside of the ring and didn’t start counting him out. Wilson grabbed a mic and read a poem to Femi. Femi took the mic and said the poem was nice, asking for another one.

Kit read another one that mentioned Femi directly, and finally, the match began three minutes in. Femi dominated Wilson and hit the Fall From Grace for the win.

Backstage, Nick Aldis and R-Truth were standing at the mystery box, and Truth said it was a major award. Aldis directed it be sent back to Raw when Damian Priest entered. R-Truth thought he was in the Chamber qualifying match and stormed off. Priest told Aldis he appreciated the opportunity.
Tiffany Stratton vs. Alba Fyre
Next, Tiffany Stratton took on Alba Fyre with a wheelchair-bound Chelsea Green in her corner. The idea behind this match was that Stratton was responsible for injuring Green two weeks ago, so Fyre was attempting to avenge her tonight. At one point in the match, Chelsea Green fully stood up from her chair, allowing Fyre to take advantage. Stratton recovered and hit the PME, staring down Chelsea as she made the pinfall. Joe Tessitore then made a weird remark, saying, “That’s exactly what you see in most Florida airports when you’re boarding your plane; a lineup of wheelchairs that you question.” Okay.

Cody Rhodes ran into Sami Zayn backstage, and Zayn said he was not doing well. Zayn said that Rhodes should be ashamed of himself as he tried to help after McIntyre got involved, and all Cody could do was hit him with a Cross Rhodes. Cody replied that not taking advantage of opportunities is why Sami has never been a champion. Zayn said no one chose him,m and he’s been trying to “finish his story” for ten damn years. Rhodes yelled back that the only thing in Sami’s way is Sami. Trick Williams then appeared to a big pop, saying he would get the job done tonight, unlike Sami.
Sami Zayn then caught up to Cody Rhodes and apologized to him as the crowd booed the apology. Sami said that Cody would be champion again and asked to think of him when he did. Cody replied, “I don’t forget”.

Men’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Next up was the second of two Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches with Damian Priest vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams. Williams got by far the biggest reaction to his entrance of the three. After an ad break, Hayes took control, flying all over the place, taking out both his opponents. The action spilled onto the outside, and both Hayes and Priest ended up getting slammed onto the announce table. The near-falls came fast and furious, and finally, Williams hit The Trick Shot on Priest as he had Hayes up for the Razor’s Edge, scoring the pinfall victory.

Backstage, the tag division was arguing around the mystery box when it was revealed that Johnny Gargano was lying on top of it. Jordynne Grace interrupted and got into an argument with Candice LeRae, so Aldis made a match between them for next week. Aldis also crowbared in some “crate” puns to absolutely no reaction.
B-Fab and Michin found Jade Cargill backstage, and they said they would get revenge by taking her title before WrestleMania.
Rhea Ripley vs. Giulia
The next match was originally scheduled to be Iyo Sky vs. Giulia, but for some reason, Rhea Ripley stepped in instead. Early on, Giulia gained control of the match going into the commercial. Upon return, Ripley finally reversed the momentum and went for the Riptide, but Giulia countered with the Arrivederci. Nia Jax and Lash Legend appeared, attacking Ripley and ending the match. This brought out Iyo Sky, and the Tag Team Champions cleared the ring. The two teams will face off next week for the titles.

The Miz approached Oba Femi and said it was his responsibility as locker room leader to get the next generation ready. Femi suggested Miz “show him the ropes” next week, and Femi went to Aldis to ask for a match.
Charlotte Flair pretended to be fine with Alexa Bliss being in the Chamber match when she was clearly not. Giulia and Kiana James entered, saying they were the most powerful duo on the roster. Giulia started screaming in Japanese, and James dragged her away. Charlotte reiterated that she was fine.
Solo Sikoa told Tama Tonga he was proud of him, but they needed to focus on the Wyatts and never let them get their lantern back. Shinsuke Nakamura appeared and said Tonga would always be in Sikoa’s shadow, and he’s being held back. Nakamura suggested Tonga leave his family tree in the forest next time he competes.
Randy Orton vs. Aleister Black
The main event of the night saw Aleister Black taking on Randy Orton as set up earlier in the show. Orton and Black started in a stalemate, but Orton knocked Black to the outside as the show went to commercial. After the break, Zelina (fka Vega) got involved, distracting Orton and allowing Black to take control. Black assaulted Orton with a number of knee shots to the face and head, and then continually applied a headlock as if they were in another ad break (they were not). Orton dropped Black on the announce table and executed the draping DDT off the table onto the floor. Drew McIntyre then appeared and hit Orton with the title behind the referee’s back. Cody Rhodes ran out and chased McIntyre off. Orton got nailed with the Black Mass, and Aleister Black picked up the win. Cody checked on Orton as McIntyre posed in the crowd. The show went off the air with a brief title card paying tribute to the late Kerwin Silfies.
