Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently teased coming out of retirement for the promotion’s upcoming card at the White House.
A video surfaced over the weekend showing Jones telling fans at a live appearance that he is in the process of negotiating with the UFC for the potential June 14 card, which is expected to go down in Washington, D.C.
“I’m in negotiations with the UFC about this White House thing as well,” he said. “I’m a very, very, very proud American, and I cannot wait to represent one more time, so we’ll see what happens.”
Jon Jones confirms my report from yesterday that he is in fact talking to the UFC about fighting at the White House.
He doesn’t mention an opponent but fight would be versus Alex Pereira.
It’s without a doubt the best option. Not done though.

38-year-old Jones announced his retirement from MMA last summer, but was quick to mention a possible return after talks emerged regarding a UFC event at the White House this year.
Jones last fought in late November, stopping Stipe Miocic in the third round of a heavyweight title fight. Fans spent more than a year anticipating a title unification bout between him and then-interim champ Tom Aspinall, although the matchup stopped being considered once Jones relinquished his title and retired.
Ariel Helwani reported earlier this week that the UFC is trying to make a fight between Jones and Alex Pereira, a decorated kickboxer who has claimed belts in the promotion’s 185 and 205-pound divisions. Speculation over this super-fight only grew over the weekend, when it was announced that Pereira had suddenly vacated his title at light heavyweight.
