Jim Ross suffers fall prior to Double or Nothing, shares update on his AEW contract status

Jim Ross suffered a fall before his trip to New York for Double or Nothing this past weekend and shared an update on his contract status.

Ross, 74, attended Double or Nothing but experienced a delay after suffering a fall at his home on Saturday morning and detailed his weekend on Grilling JR.

Ross was scheduled to be picked up by his driver at 6 a.m., but he fell away from his phone and ended up missing his flight and being re-booked. He questioned why he was scheduled to fly out so early on a Saturday morning for a Sunday night pay-per-view, adding his displeasure with the state of flying, which he categorized as the worst period he’s ever experienced.

After arriving in New York, he had another ailment on Saturday evening when his back blew out in his hotel room, and described his state as “very sore,” but accepted that he asked to go to work and could not complain. He added that his legs are really weak and is optimistic about finding a doctor who can get him back on track.

Ross had praise for Tony Khan for being very good to him, but admitted that he wished he could have been utilized for more than one match on Sunday and would have spoken to Khan if he knew that would be his lone assignment. Ross was ringside to call the Continental Championship match between Jon Moxley and Kyle O’Reilly.

On the trip, Ross met with his agent, Barry Bloom, and shared that he believes his deal with AEW is up “sometime in August” and is not worrying about whether he is renewed or not.

Ross was one of AEW’s initial hires in 2019 before its first Double or Nothing event and was the lead voice when Dynamite launched that year. Over the past few years, Ross has dealt with multiple health issues, including a bout with colon cancer over the past year.
