And then there were four.

The semi-finalists for this year’s NJPW Best of the Super Juniors tournament were decided on Wednesday night following a busy final show of Round Robin action from Korakuen Hall.

In an incredibly tight B Block which saw five different wrestlers tied for first place by the end of it, it was Robbie Eagles and YOH who were given the opportunity to advance. While Eagles and YOH carried 12 points (six wins), the same as El Desperado, SHO, and Taiji Ishimori, tiebreaker calculations based on head-to-head matchups against the tied wrestlers determined that they would be the two advancing.

Tiebreaker mathematics were needed in the A Block as well, where Master Wato and Kosei Fujita advanced to the knockout bracket with 12 points. Francesco Akira also attained 12 points, but since he lost to both Fujita and Wato during earlier weeks of the tournament, he was ruled out of advancing to the next round.

Semi-final action involving Eagles, YOH, Fujita and Wato will take place on Friday, when NJPW heads to the G Messe Gunma for the second-last night of BOSJ action. The winners will return on Sunday for the grand finals as part of a card from Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.
