Weekend TV Guide: Newman & Tsuji headlines NJPW Dominion, Omega wrestles on Collision, road to Night of Champions continues & more!

This weekend’s wrestling schedule features one of NJPW’s biggest lineups of the year from Osaka, a faction war continuing as part of tomorrow’s AEW Collision, more King & Queen of the Ring qualifier matches on Smackdown, plus some fun independent wrestling! Here’s a rundown of all the notable events happening over the next three days, plus when and where to watch it all.

Friday

WWE Friday Night Smackdown / 8 p.m. ET / USA Network

The road to Night of Champions will continue this evening when WWE Friday Night Smackdown takes place at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island. The final opening round matchups in the King and Queen of the Ring bouts will go down this weekend, it was announced ahead of time.

The men’s four-way includes former world champ Jey Uso, fellow Raw stand-out LA Knight, WWE newcomer Royce Keys, and one of Smackdown’s newest additions, Finn Balor. The women’s bout includes the decorated Charlotte Flair, ex-champ Jade Cargill, newly-crowned Intercontinental titleholder Sol Ruca, and Lyra Valkyria.

Out of all the independent wrestling events set for this weekend, REVOLVER’s Friday night show, No Country for Ole Mancer, seems to be the best. The lineup is full of big names: Mance Warner, Myron Reed, recent TNA departure Steve Maclin, “Blackheart” Lio Rush, and Billie Starkz are just some of the many big names appearing as part of the show. Oh, and the best part? It’s all going to be streaming on Youtube for free! No paid subscription, no catch, or anything!

Tiger Mask, an NJPW veteran who is just weeks away from retiring, will begin his final tour of Mexico as part of tonight’s CMLL card from Arena Mexico. He’ll be part of a stacked six-man main event matchup this evening, teaming with Komander and Neon to take on Black Tiger, Ultimo Guerrero, and Barbaro Cavernario. AEW fans will see some crossover matchups earlier in the night as well, as La Faccion Ingobernable’s The Beast Mortos and Sammy Guevara will defend their ROH tag belts, and Thunder Rosa will be in action as well. The full show will be streaming live for paid subscribers to CMLL’s Youtube page.

Tomorrow’s show will see Kenny Omega in singles action for the first time in months, gearing up for his Forbidden Door bout against Zack Sabre Jr. The feud between Death Riders and Shane Taylor Promotions will continue with what should be a hectic five-on-five Street Fight. Tag excellence will be on display when The Dogs and The Young Bucks face off. Plus, CMLL women’s champ Persephone will go up against Julia Hart, with the winner qualifying for an upcoming six-way bout for the vacant TBS Championship, and so much more. Not a bad way to spend your Saturday night!

The biggest card this weekend is easily NJPW’s annual Dominion card, which will be live on Sunday morning from Osaka-jo Hall in Osaka, Japan.

The main event will see IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman defend his title for the final time before the prolific G1 Climax tournament kicks off, rematching former champ Yota Tsuji. Who will enter the summer tournament as world champ?

Earlier in the night, Best of the Super Juniors winner YOH will attempt to end DOUKI’s dreadful run as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and kick off his first notable singles title run in the company. The always fun Knockout Brothers will try to extend their tag title reign against United Empire’s Great-O-Khan and HENARE. Andrade El Idolo will look to overcome the odds in a three-way match featuring Drilla Moloney and Shota Umino, CMLL star Mistico will take on tag partner El Desperado in a special attraction singles bout, SANADA will return, and more.
