TNA World Championship

TNA Thursday Night Impact kicked off with the TNA World title match between Eric Young and Mike Santana. Santana took full control as the match began with multiple near falls as Young had to regroup on the outside. Young gained control by going after Santana’s neck, which the announcers explained was injured in last week’s piledriver by Young. After a commercial break, Santana was mounting a comeback, hitting a Buck 50, followed by a Rolling version for a two count.

The announce team kept hammering on the fact that Nic Nemeth was waiting to use his Call Your Shot Gauntlet. The referee got taken out, and Santana hit the Spin the Block, but no count could be made. Young hit Santana with a low blow and grabbed the world title and nailed Santana for it, following that up with a piledriver, but Santana got his hand on the bottom rope. Suddenly, Ricky Sosa appeared, distracting Young and allowing Santana to roll up Young for the victory.

Nic Nemeth then stormed the ring with his trophy and said he could “call his shot” right now, but instead made the match for Slammiversary. The crowd booed and chanted “do it now,” and the two shook hands.

Mustafa Ali and Order 4 were interviewed backstage ahead of his International title defense against KC Navarro later in the night. Ali called Nic Nemeth an honorable idiot for calling his shot for Slammiversary. He then turned his attention to Navarro, saying that he lost his Uncle earlier in the week, and he and Order 4 would give his family a second loss in a week, later tonight.

Mr. Elegance vs. Elijah

Next, the undefeated Mr. Elegance took on Elijah, who lamented losing the rights to his likeness to AJ Francis last week. A man appeared, gave Elijah a sheet of paper, said, “You’ve been served,” and, for some reason, the bell rang, with Elijah’s back turned. Mr. Elegance rolled up Elijah in eleven seconds for the win. After the “match”, AJ Francis appeared, and Elijah immediately started attacking him, brawling into the crowd.

Lei Ying Lee then appeared, attacking Mr. Elegance. That brought out Xia Brookside, who attacked Lee, but Lee hit her with Warrior’s Way before Brookside escaped.

Nic Nemeth gave KC Navarro a pep talk ahead of his match against Mustafa Ali. Navarro said he was surprised that he didn’t take advantage of Santana while he was hurt. Ryan Nemeth interrupted, saying he should have crushed Santana. Santana appeared and said he remained skeptical but respected him. Navarro asked the three men to have his back against Order 4 tonight. Ryan called KC an idiot and then yelled that he was the little brother.

The System vs. Aichner & Slater

The next match saw The System’s Eddie Edwards and X Division Champion Cedric Alexander take on Fabian Aichner and Leon Slater. Aichner started strong, taking it to both System members and controlling the match. After an ad break, The System assumed control, building to a hot tag to Leon Slater. The other two members of the System ran down to intervene, but were fought off by the face team. In the confusion, Alexander hit Slater out of nowhere with the Lumbar Check and picked up the win.

The fight continued after the match, and The System beat down Aichner and Slater. This brought out the returning Moose, who announced he will face Eddie Edwards at Slammiversary.

Santino Marella cut a promo saying he was done with Arianna and Stacks when Indi Hartwell entered and asked for a rematch next week against Elayna Black.

The Righteous Promo

Vincent and Dutch cut a promo about how they defeated The Hardys last week in the Wicked Garden match. The Righteous set their sights on the TNA tag titles, and Santino Marella interrupted. Marella said the System would defend their titles in a three-way Ladder match at Slammiversary. The lights went out, Matt was heard saying “yes,” and a ladder appeared in the ring, and The Righteous freaked out as the segment ended.
