Mini Vikingo has said he needs surgery on an elbow injury, ruling out his planned AAA World Cruiserweight Championship match against Rey Fenix.
The development came during the first night of AAA Héroes Inmortales on Saturday at Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City.
In a backstage segment, Fenix asked Vikingo for an update on his condition. Vikingo said he had injured his elbow while competing in NXT.
I injured my elbow at NXT and the doctors say I need surgery, but I don’t want to lose this match.
Fenix told Vikingo that he had earned his opportunity and promised to try to remain champion until his return.
Fenix then said the Cruiserweight Championship would instead be defended in an open challenge next week during the second night of Héroes Inmortales and wondered aloud who the challenger would be.
Vikingo had earned the match against Fenix by defeating Jack Cartwheel, Joaquin Wilde and Nobu San in a four-way contender’s match earlier this month.
The injury had already prevented Vikingo from wrestling on Tuesday’s edition of NXT. General Manager Robert Stone announced during the October 20 broadcast that he had not been medically cleared for a scheduled six-man tag.
No timetable for Vikingo’s recovery was given on Saturday.
Big Mami returns
Big Mami also made her return to AAA television following the World Trios Championship match.
Los Perros del Mal (Daga, Angel & Berto) retained against La Parka, Mr. Iguana & Niño Hamburguesa after interference from Karmen Petrovic. Daga delivered a low blow to La Parka while the referee was distracted, allowing Angel to roll him up for the pin.
The champions continued their attack afterward, with Petrovic targeting Niño Hamburguesa at ringside.
Big Mami then came out to make the save, throwing Petrovic into the ring and attacking her. She prepared to deliver a hip attack before Daga pulled Petrovic to safety.
Big Mami last wrestled for the promotion in 2025. She and Niño Hamburguesa have a lengthy history together, including a 775-day reign as AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions from 2017 until 2019.
El Grande Americano, La Catalina retain
El Grande Americano retained the AAA Mega Championship against Dominik Mysterio in the main event despite repeated involvement from Dorian Roldán and Omos.
Omos eventually pulled the referee from the ring during a pin attempt. AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio then arrived and attacked Omos with a chair before also striking Dominik.
Americano followed with a headbutt and pinned Dominik once the referee recovered.
The match followed Dominik earning another opportunity at the championship earlier this month.
La Catalina also retained the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against Flammer and La Hiedra.
Although the Las Tóxicas members initially worked together against the champion, tensions again emerged between them. Catalina ultimately capitalized, hitting Flammer with a running knee for the victory.
