Sheamus is reportedly set to depart WWE after nearly 20 years with the company.

Fightful Select reports that Sheamus’ contract is expiring soon and that he rejected a restructured extension. The report adds that Sheamus was not released.

The 48-year-old has not wrestled since the November 17, 2025 episode of Raw, when he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio against Dominik Mysterio, Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day.

Sheamus underwent shoulder surgery in December. His social media accounts, including X and Instagram, have been changed to the name “S. Farrelly,” a reference to his real name, Stephen Farrelly. They no longer feature any reference to WWE.

Sheamus signed with WWE in 2006 after beginning his career in Ireland and wrestling for Irish Whip Wrestling. He later moved through WWE’s developmental system before joining the main roster in 2009.

He became one of WWE’s most decorated performers of the following decade, holding the WWE Championship three times and the World Heavyweight Championship once. Sheamus also won the United States Championship, Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships, King of the Ring in 2010, the Royal Rumble in 2012, and Money in the Bank in 2015.

Much of Sheamus’ later WWE run was built around tag teams and stables, including The Bar with Cesaro and The Brawling Brutes with Ridge Holland and Butch.

His recent years also included well-received matches against Gunther and Drew McIntyre, although the Intercontinental Championship remained the major WWE title he never captured.

WWE has not announced Sheamus’ departure.
