Konosuke Takeshita moved into sole possession of first place in A Block as the G1 Climax 36 reached Ota City on Saturday.
Takeshita defeated Boltin Oleg to reach six points at Ebara Wave Arena, while the other eight wrestlers behind him finished the night tied on four.
IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji closed the show by defeating Unbound Co. teammate Shingo Takagi. NJPW announced an attendance of 2,027.

Tsuji defeats Unbound Co. teammate
Tsuji ended his two-match losing run by defeating Takagi in a 24-minute main event.
The Unbound Co. teammates began cautiously, before Takagi drove the champion neck-first onto the floor with a Takagi Driver ’98 and nearly won by countout. Tsuji returned before 20 but immediately took a superplex.
Tsuji blocked Made in Japan before Takagi eventually landed the move following a Pumping Bomber. Each wrestler then borrowed from the other, with Takagi attempting a Gene Blaster and Tsuji delivering his version of Made in Japan.
Takagi survived a Boston crab and countered another Gene Blaster with a lariat. He followed with a Pumping Bomber and Burning Dragon, but neither secured the victory.
Tsuji recovered and hit the Fire Blaster for the pin at 24:12. The result brought him to 2-2 while leaving Takagi alone at the bottom of A Block.
Yuto-Ice wins rivalry match
Yuto-Ice defeated former Noge Dojo contemporary Ryohei Oiwa after a heated contest that quickly spilled into the crowd.
Oiwa drove Yuto-Ice onto a chair with a DDT and later focused on his rival’s injured neck. Back inside, the two largely abandoned holds in favor of elbows, forearms and attempts to knock each other down.
Yuto-Ice landed a Bomboclat knee, but Oiwa responded with headbutts and applied the Ark Clutch. He continued targeting the neck with two Tenzan suplexes and a lariat.
Oiwa missed a discus lariat in the closing moments, allowing Yuto-Ice to hit Cruella and end his two-match losing streak.
Takeshita takes sole lead
Takeshita defeated Oleg to reach six points and break away from the crowded field behind him.
The defending G1 winner used speed and leverage to counter Oleg’s strength, including a dive to the floor. Oleg regained control with the Boltin Shake and won a prolonged exchange of lariats.
Oleg countered a knee into the Verdict for a near fall and later turned another knee attempt into a powerbomb. Takeshita escaped the Kamikaze and struck Oleg with two Wagamama Knees.
Raging Fire completed the victory at 14:20. Takeshita now holds a 2-2 singles record against Oleg.
SANADA traps Lee outside
SANADA defeated Jake Lee by countout after exploiting Lee’s knee injury.
Lee worked over SANADA’s arm, while SANADA repeatedly attacked the knee that had kept Lee out of action before the tournament. Lee countered one submission into further damage to the arm and later caught SANADA in an ankle lock and front choke.
SANADA escaped and connected with a rounding body press for two. The match moved outside, where SANADA trapped Lee against the barricade and returned to the ring.
Lee could not free himself before the referee reached 20, giving SANADA his second consecutive victory after beginning the tournament 0-2.
O-Khan uses low blow to defeat Goto
Great-O-Khan defeated Hirooki Goto in their first singles meeting.
O-Khan attacked below the belt early and later used a chair across Goto’s back. Goto fought through the punishment with kicks, a lariat and a back suplex.
Another chair attack backfired, but O-Khan regained control by biting Goto. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion hesitated to respond in kind, giving O-Khan an opportunity to land another low blow.
O-Khan followed with the Eliminator to collect his second win.
