Speedball Mike Bailey’s got next.
In front of their home province supporters in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Bailey won a six-way ladder match to secure a future title shot at the AEW International Championship.
The win for Bailey kicked off AEW’s first-ever Redemption pay-per-view on Sunday night, prevailing in a match also featuring El Clon, The Beast Mortos, Jack Perry, Komander, and Nick Wayne.
After delivering an Ultima Weapon off the top rope onto The Beast Mortos, who was on top of a ladder set up in a corner of the ring, Bailey quickly scaled a ladder and retrieved a #1 contender’s contract to end the bout.
The win for Bailey closed out a hectic 20-minute opener which was full of risky yet exhilarating moments.
The match briefly went on the venue’s stage, where Bailey scored a huge moonsault off the top of a ladder onto all five of his opponents. A series of bumps through tables at ringside took place late, including Komander scoring his tightrope plancha onto Wayne, and Wayne later giving El Clon a Phoenix Splash.
Perry also delivered one of the biggest moments of the match, giving Wayne a Canadian Destroyer onto a ladder.
Bailey’s win means they’ll face whoever comes out on top in a match later this evening between reigning AEW International Champion Kyle Fletcher and Bandido. Bailey will be looking to obtain his first-ever AEW singles title run in the upcoming matchup.
