Jim Ross is set to undergo brain surgery next week with the hope of a short stay in hospital before he can return home.
Last month, the veteran broadcaster revealed he needed the surgery to remove fluid from his brain and was informed the procedure was not optional.
On his Grilling JR podcast, he shared additional information:
I’ve got a big week coming up. My surgery is this Wednesday in Norman. I don’t know what to say I’m looking forward to it, but I guess I am to get to that point and get it over with. I’ve never had brain surgery before, so they’re going to put a shunt in my brain. They say I’m going to be in the hospital for a day, so that surprised me and made me happy, but still, I would have guessed longer.
Ross has largely been away from AEW broadcasting duties and has dealt with myriad health problems over the past several years. He appeared at Double or Nothing this past May to call the Continental Championship match between Jon Moxley and Kyle O’Reilly at Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York.
