A new report highlights why WWE decided to host one-half of this year’s AAA Triplemania card in Las Vegas.

Lucha libre brand AAA, which was acquired by WWE in 2025, has its biggest event of the year, Triplemania, coming up in a little under a month.

The plan is for the show to take place across two nights, with a show on Friday, September 11, in Las Vegas, then a second night on Sunday, September 13, in Mexico City. It’ll be the first time since 1996 that AAA brings Triplemania to the United States.

The reasoning behind this move, per a new report from Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, is to bring more attention to the company in the media world. The event was reportedly planned to be a one-night program from Mexico, but then the idea of putting half of it in America came up.

The first half of TripleMania this year takes place one night before Zuffa Boxing’s high-profile matchup between Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia, which is also going down in Vegas. Anticipating that network executives will be in town to watch the fight, WWE reportedly hopes some will check out the lucha action going down one night prior.

AAA’s weekly TV program airs on Fox in Mexico. In America and internationally, the show airs for free via Youtube. While WWE has been happy with how the show has performed since launching at the start of the year, they’re still reportedly shopping the product around and hoping to land another broadcast rights deal for it someday.
